On a 2004 XtraCab with the 3RZ engine, I assume my rearend is a 7.5" ring gear. My question is about the axle shafts. Specifically:

    1. Are the axles full or semi-float
    2. What is the axle diameter
    3. What is the spline count
    4. How does the axle and axle shafts compare to a D44

I assume they are semi-float but bolted into the axle flange as the 3rd member would preclude C-clips. If the axle assembly is comparable to a D44, then I'd be comfortable with a ARB. However, if its weaker, can you get higher spline count shafts?

I think you have the 8.4" diff and semi float axles in your rig. If so, your diff and axles will be more than strong enough for an ARB. I know guys running 37" tires without any issues for tens of thousands of hard miles. The only guys that upgrade that axle are the buggy guys, in my experience.

EDIT: BTW, I've had and ARB in mine for about 20k and haven't had a single issue either.

    What Lump said.

you have the 8.4. Its got the stronger pinion then the E locker and more interal bracing.

you'll be totally fine running a ARB and up to 37s.

You have what's called the 8.4. It's still an 8" ring gear.
    Semi
3" tube. No idea on the diameter of the shaft itself.
    30 spline.
Arguably, pretty similar stock for stock. I'd still want a toy axle over a 44 any day, though.

Realistically speaking, you don't need to touch the axle unless you're running 39's+.
