TRD Off Road Long Bed

I've read that a TRD off road is not available with a long bed.
Why?

 

It is, as long as you get an access cab.

Well that is an interesting point , I guess if the OP let us know his intended end use for his truck we could better determine the best option

FWIW , not everybody rock climbs these trucks , and not everybody can settle for a 5' bed

I've stated before that Toyota should have made a rear locker available as an option on the DCLB Sports or SR5's and they would have covered all their bases

The added wheelbase would make the truck too long for off road vehicle.

 

OK and what's your definition of offroad?

Never had any problem to go offroad with my truck, i know i'm not doing extreme offroad or rock climbing but here 95% of the country is offroad so.

I'm pretty sure that for some owners of TRD offroad Tacoma, a shopping mall parking is offroad.

I really wish they did, I would have been all over that!

 

DCLB is available in a Sport AND fleet versions as well as mentioned above, in an access cab. I've seen a few on the road, the fleet version has no decals either Sport or OffRoad.

 

No such thing as fleet version , but you can get a DCLB in base , SR5 , Sport and Limited but that's not really addressing the OP's inquiry

 

If the double cab long bed is too long for off roading, then why offer the double cab?
Extended cab short bed should be the only offering.
Hard to beleive Toyota would limit choices due to what the best offroad setup would be.

I saw one that was a repo on a dealer lot in Pleasant Hills PA, he specifically told me that it was a "fleet model". Not that I believe everything that a salesman tells me and I come from a LONG LINE of relatives who are car salesman...LOL. If I had to describe what it most resembled, I would say a base model as you described.

I couldn't agree more, I liked the locker on my OffRoad, the TRAC on my Sport is kind a sucky.

 

That's what the rear view camera is for. Plus why park next to the rest of the door dingers.

 

Double cab short bed and AC cab have the same wheelbase

The bed on the AC is the same length as the DCLB
