I just bought my son this 99 V6er for graduation. I was able to get it for a good price so I dont mind that I am going to have to do a little work to it. I actually like the idea so it will give me a chance to learn the truck better and give my son the chance to learn a bit about mechanics. Overall it isnt in bad shape but the front end is a bit worn out. There is no slack in the tie rods so I am assuming my main issues are in the rack, but I still have some checking to do to find all the issues.
So my question is this, since I will be replacing lots of the front end parts anyway, are there any mods I can do to help it drive better with these big wheels? It has slack but not that much but it is a beast over 50 mph. I know you have to sacrafice ride for big tires but this is beyond that. I have an 06 Taco with 33x12 MTZs and there is no comparison. I plan on replacing ball joints, struts, A arm bushings, tie rods and tie rod ends. Is there anything else I should do while I am there or any upgrades that will improve the way it handles?

What size tires is the 99 running and I have a 04 with 33x12.50x15s on them and other than what you named already shouldn't need much more than that.

One thing id look at is the Rack bushings. i just replaced the ones on my 02 that run 33s with a higher quality bushing and it made a lot of difference on my truck. my old ones were really bad though. besides that pretty much what you listed. Good luck with the truck! your son will love it!

Yes I agree and would probably also replace all the bushings.
