I just tied it down with some 550 cord to the bottom part of the bumper so it wont scratch paint. it looks pretty stupid. but i feel pretty stupid, too; my tennessee tag didnt expire til the end of april and i thought today was the last day. whatever. front plates suck. i'm thinking of buying one of those yellow dont tread on me ones so it doesnt look so... white.

Well I started around 6:30 and finished around 10:30, but I got the ARB mounted up. It is about an inch off center, but i'll fix that this weekend when I wire up the turn signals and the HIDs.

You can take the truck anywhere. It's new enough that they'll just plug it in and do the visual inspection. I bought one of the kits from Advance that sticks on and has screw holes for the license plate.

I may have to take you up on the coax cable in the near future :D

I'm looking for recommendations on a complete set of bolt-on skid plates. If I had the options they'd be black and 3/16.

I'd also be interested in a reasonably close-by source, not only to minimize shipping but support local folks. I used IPOR for my Cruisers over the years, but I don't believe they're producing skid plates for 2nd generation Tacomas (yet).

All-Pro or Bud Built are the ones most people prefer on here. The Bud Built plates are made by a smaller company but I don't know of any shops around here that make skid plates for our trucks.

No one local anymore. Personally, I want the ALuminum set. Budbuilt maybe.

Got blocked in at HD today. a Semi pulled in front of me and decided he was done. Shut his rig off, yelled to his boss on the phone, tossed his keys in the bushes/trees and stormed off in the opposite direction.

Behind me there was a 2.5' drop onto the next parking lot. SO, I backed over it. A croud gathered as I was manuvering slowly down. Interesting what people do and say when they do not understand, or do not have all the information.

GOt out clean and safe. No scraping. Nothing. Then the peanut gallery clapped as I exited the premesis.

I have the ATO full set (no gas tank skid) and I like it. The IFS is 1/4'' steel and the trans and T-case skids are 3/16'' steel. All together, they weigh 150#, so an aluminum set by Budbuilt might be the way to go if you are trying to save weight.

If you do go with ATO, invest in some hex grade 8 hardware, because ATO sends some crappy allen hardware that sucks.

Are we doing a mod day on 4/12? I could host if needed. I live in SE Loudoun County FYI, just over the line from Fairfax. I have some basic tools but it would be needed for others to bring their own. I have a hi lift and two jack stands also.

If there's interest, I can start a thread for us to see who's coming.

I will have coilover, UCA, rear shock, rear leaf, and trans/T-case skid to install.

Sounds good! I'm down. I'll help with whatever is needed. I need to do the diff breather mod, but my local Toyota dealership doesn't carry the parts and I just haven't ordered them. It would be cool to do it on the weekend, so I can actually make it.

If you call the Chantilly Ourisman dealership they can order them. I live about 5 min from Ourisman so I could either pick them up or you can order them now and pick them up on the way into my house if that works.

    Should be P# 90404-51319 (union) and P# 90930-03136 (breather).

For those of you who may be interested, I mentioned it at the meet-up before last, the FJ bruisers are hosting an trail-run/camping trip thing next weekend. Check out here for more info: http://fjbruisers.org/forum/index.php?topic=7411.0

I signed up and am planning on going and checking out the Bruisers and how they run their events since they do some pretty cool trips.
