I'm looking to offer a new rear bumper for 1st gens, but I need help deciding a few things.

The main bumper shell thickness is 3/16", the mounting brackets and inner gussets are 3/8", the hitch support bar is solid 1" round, the shackle mounts are 1" thick, and the tire carrier is a mix of 3/16" and 1/8". The spindle is rated to 1750 lbs, and the latch is rated to 700 lbs. The bumper passed all my harsh testing and is ready for production.

    1. What is this worth to you? I know my price, but what price would it need to be to sell. Be reasonable, steel isn't cheap these days, and a tire carrier hinge and latch are $150 right there.

    What I'm thinking...
    Base bumper - $550
    Wrap around tube - $50
Tire Carrier like I have shown - $350
Options can be added or changed for whatever cost

    2. Should I get rid of the indented area around the hitch that would fit a license plate and carry the main bumper shape all the way across? The hitch would still work.

    3. What other options would you want besides the platform where I mounted a toolbox? I don't have anything else designed right now.

The basics like light holes, hitch, wrap around can be left off or included, and I would sell just the main bumper without a tire carrier as well.

Im not a fan of the wedge shape myself. Actually looking at the pictures closely, I like the driver side shape better than the passenger side. Driver side lines are more sharp. But thats just my 02. How much does it weigh without the box or tire?

Those are just smudges from my greasy hands that throw the look off. The full length is bent at once so the lines are equal. As for weight, I'm not sure. Forgot to weigh it. Once I get the updated 3D model I can calculate it within a few pounds. If I had to guess I would say 125.

If you could offer plate wrap-arounds and offer different light hole options. Having a rotopax mount in place of the toolbox would be something I'd want.

I am sticking with tube wrap around since plate would either not flow well coming straight forward off the end, or I would have to change the shape of the bumper. Tube is simple and strong. Different light holes or no light holes is no issue. A rotopax mount would be fairly easy I think. Similar to the spare tire mount. I would need the rotopax or dimensions though.

    Hmm, okay then... Haha

Only thing that worries me about the current setup for the tube wrap-arounds is that there' no support like other tube wrap-around out there....

Yeah, I know CBI starts with a basic piece of plate, then either mounts a jerry can holder or rotopax mount on it to make things easy.

I had the support tube all made up, then cut it wrong when I got distracted. The bedside tube was solid without it so I scrapped the piece. I can add it in for production.

FYI. The latch want be strong enough. I had the 700lb one and it ended up bending. The ubolt isn't strong enough.

I'd upgrade to the 2000lb one.

You need to start over and throw that thing in your dumpster. Just make sure you call me so I can help you lift it in there. I wouldn't want you to strain your back you know. Then I will ask you to go inside and I will hang out by the dumpster just to make sure no one takes it.

I think the bumper turned out great and would rock it myself but if you are fishing for input I will make my own suggestions.

-I would use a DE-STA-CO 344-SS style clamp. The 90 degree angle would clean it up.
    http://www.destaco.com/assets/docs/en/ds/324_334_344.pdf

-I like the geometry/profile of the bends. I think it would look good if it spanned the entire length with only a small cutout for a hitch. However since I prefer not to be hassled by cops for not having my license plate illuminated I think it would be cool to use stock license plate lights (yes, I know they make aftermarket plate lights). These would be mounted to small angled plates on each side of the license plate. The only way I see this possible is to have the center cut-out like you have done on yours but with the addition of angled walls in the recessed area. The downfall of this would be the license plate looks to be taller than your bumper so the plate would hang below the bumper. For aesthetics this wouldn't look right. The short winded answer is, I am not sure if the profile should be continuous or not.

-I challenge you to make the wrap around sections the same geometry as the main bumper with 45 degree corner plates. This could be accomplished by having the same or a smaller horizontal top section. A smaller top section would protrude out from the box side less if bulkiness is a concern. I also like how the tube follows the angle of the box towards the wheel well. Duplicating the angle with the same geometry on the main bumper would look good imo.

Oh, and of course a 12VDC remote operated linear actuator for the tire carrier! :D

Hey, that was supposed to be a secret!

You probably used your whole lunch break to write this, huh?

I think you should add some bends to the frame mount and allow it to wrap around the frame rails and utilize some of the factory mounting points.

I like that wedge shape, probably much easier to continue the shape for the length of the bumper rather than having to notch all that out. Also you might want to put a notch where the spare tire bar goes to the lowering mechanism for those who don't have the carrier.

Y'all will need to use your imagination since computer software can only do so much, but here.... I'll take on a challenge.

The corner plate is at a 60 degree angle. 45 was ridiculous.

Also I would like to switch to this for ease of manufacturing.

dam that is a nice bumper....something i would definitely buy. Is this still in a BETA version? I would like this bumper, minus the hooks and the hinge part...I just want the basic bumper with maybe the side tube. Do you also have anything for the front that is similar to this? I like this bumper because it is simple looking and clean. Let me know I am interested! Thansk
