Whats your yearly DMV registration fee?

my 2014 reg cab 4x4 will be $333 but itll go up when I put my vanity plates on

Here in cali my step dad has a purple heart and gets no dmv discount, actually pays more for the purple heart plate, only in California.

 

That's ridiculous. Purple hearts pay zero registration fees in TX

 

Here in TN it depends what county you live in. $24.00 a year in my county.

 

You need to have more than that to draw attention to your taxes.

Between my mortgage, personal exemptions and standard deductions, and VLF, I'm deducting well over $20k and Turbotax reports my return is so clean that they wouldn't waste their time with an audit.

But... consider the amount of the VLF and what it will (won't?) save you if you claim it.
Brand new truck, $500 VLF, and your taxable income is $30k so you're in the 15% bracket.... reporting that $500 will only save you $75.

 

If he's disabled and has the "DP" plate assigned to his truck, the commercial fee is waived.
Plate the truck and use the hang-tag for the car.

Bought the 2014 a month ago. The registration card and plates just came in. Registration was $313.

 

same for me in Austin. 2013 vehicle.

 

I put plates on my 2014 last month and it was $574

 

Just renewed mine last week. 06 came out to $120 including a $25 custom license plate fee.

 

About $240 in AZ for a 2010 (plus $50 for my vanity plate)

 

Is the Tacoma taxed as a passenger vehicle or truck or depends or what?

 

I also live in Massachusetts. I only pay $50 for a two year registration. Your being robbed!

Maybe he registers it as a commercial vehicle... that's a yearly fee (paid in December, not January BTW) and still too much.

The value is depreciated rapidly, they use 90% of blue book when new down to 10% of blue book at 5 years. In practice your first year bill runs a few hundred but by 4 or 5 years old the tax is down to only $50 or so.

The tax is also prorated based on the month you buy the car. Since I got mine in July my first years tax will be 2.5% of about 50% of its blue book value (7/12 x90%) or likely about $400. Second year tax will be based on 60% of its 2yr old blue book, then down to 40% etc...
