Head light/blinker controller swap

    Has anyone swapped out this part? I pulled one from an 02 corolla that had a fog light control built in and I am putting it in my truck. My harness matches up perfect because I test fitted it and it ran my headlights and blinker perfect. I will wire corolla harness so because all the wire colors match and I want the fog control. Does anyone know how to wire it so that it doesn't kick my fogs off when I turn the brights on or will it even do that since it will be wired straight to my fog light relay?

    No clue, but killing the fogs with the high beams is federal law.
    If you have inspection in your state, it needs to do that.

    I don't have to get mine inspected, good old state of arkansas. Haha

    I figure I can't just wire the fogs to a relay and use the knob on the headlight switch to switch them on and off

    Not sure how I want to do the fogs though. I want try to use the original blinker housing for them. I was thinking of running my blinker up to my parking lights like Blackdawg has made a mod for and the following the blinker mod for 01-04 Tacomas with a switchback LED and just not put the wire that makes the switch back blink

    Definitely go with LED if you're going to use the stock blinker housing.
    The reflector and lenses were designed to handle the intermittent pulse of a 25 watt turn signal and not a constant 55w from a fog light.

    That's what I'll do. Do you think it'll be safe to just wire the lights to my stock fog switch fr the coral controller since it won't be pulling many watts or should I still use a relay?

    Sounds good. I'll try to get started on the controller swap soon so I can figure out which fog wire is positive and which is negative

    And I'm assuming that I would just ground out the negative one somewhere in the dash, correct?

    Verify your polarity first.

    A lot of Toyota circuits run ground-true logic... power goes to the relay and the switch applies a ground.

    So it kind of acts like the door triggers? When the ground is completed, the switch lets power flow?

    It does on some Toyotas.
    The 2nd Gen fog light circuit works like that.
    1st Gen headlight circuit works like that.

    I don't know if the Celica your stalk came out of is the same or not, but it is important to verify and confirm how the switch works.

    How exactly would you go about determining that? I can do a little wiring and what not but I'm still trying to learn as much as I can about it
