Wondering if anyone else has an issue with thier relitively new truck. Mine is a 2013 DCLB, I've only got 5k miles on it. Since new the windshield has had a pattern on the exterior like residue from shrink wrap and assembly suction cup marks despite several washes.
I was giving the glass a thorough cleaning yesterday and noticed tiny chips that pretty much cover the entire glass. Its like the surface is porous. These imperfections are about about as big as the tip of a pencil spead out about an inch apartor so all over the glass. At first I thought it was specs of overspray. It's like what you would expect to see on a 10 year old 100k mile windshield. I'd take a picture but it difficult to photograph glass.
I plan on bringing it up at the dealer on my next service .

I seen a thread about the suction cup marks, they will go after a yr. Dont know what to say about your window being sandblasted.

I have a 2012 with the same problem. A ton of what looks

Maybe some sand storms occurred at the manufacturing plant in Mexico while your trucks were being stored outside?

    It could happen....

I have the suction cup marks on mine.....nothing takes them off. The good news is they're not that noticeable. My truck is only 4 months old so hopefully they'll go away.

Haven't noticed any chips yet, but do have the suction cup marks.

They are only visible under certain conditions, but when they are, it bugs the crap out of me.

What is the dealer saying about this? Sounds like either a poor quality glass or a probablem in the production side of things. If the glad is compromised it may not be safe and may need replaced.

I don't have either, but if I did, I would take it in asap and request they replace the windshield. I suspect that will be harder for the guys with more miles, but for the low mileage guys who have it, I wouldn't hesitate.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Whatever's wrong with this glass occurred prior to installation. There is no paint damage. The imperfections are very small, it's not noticeable while driving. You have to be right up close to see it.

I had the suction cup marks on the inside of my windshield. They came off when I used "Sprayaway" that I picked up at Home Depot. There is another thread on here somewhere that recommends a sealing agent to apply to the glass. I think it's in the detailing section, but I don't think it will get rid of your pits though.

Have you thought about inquiring at a glass shop?

Mine is pitted but it's from oncoming big rigs blasting me with ice on a two lane hwy in Colorado between Limon and Colorado Springs.

My 2012 with 4000 miles on it is pitted also. Just like, The109 said, it's from other cars/trucks kicking up crap off the road. It going to happen no matter what. I have no other chips in paint anywhere on truck.

Same problem on my Lexus is250 awd. Replace that windshield, when it was real bad. At the grand cost of $1200.00, that hurt.

I just bought a 2008 a few weeks ago and I thought the Windshield was the original until seeing this post. The 4yr old windshield had pits all over it and it was worse than the one in my '87 Chevy van Class B camper. I thought it was rediculous for a vehicle with only 47,XXXX miles. I told the dealer that it was BS and asked them to replace it.

I Just got the new one installed yesterday at no cost to me. I'm curious to see how long this thing lasts...

My 2013 windshield was fine new but now has tiny pits spread throughout and a few medium pits. It's from wintertime blasting from trucks and cars on sandy roads. No paint chips. Glass seems a little "soft". True?

Glass is hard all glass, it is made of silica (sand) sand will pit glass if you live in an area that puts sand on the road your glass is going to get pitted there is not a damn thing you can do about it other than not drive it.

Try washing the windshield with "Soft Scrub" or a other non-abrasive cleaner. What appear to be chips most likely are actually reflective speckles from the "sparkle wash" they bathe the vehicles in to ehance the paint look.
