    360 MOPAR, DT Headers, 300 wet, 4:56 spooled rear D44A, B&M line-Lok, Infinti Kappa speakers (10), Borla XR1, Purple Cam, Built upper
    done right it may not break, ive stick welded a ford 8.8 and I put that thing through hell and back and it did not break. With the right rod, clean areas it wont snap. Sucks as a daily and will never lock or spool anything. Jeep has a D44 LS which is nice

    If it's done right, the weld should be the strongest part of the whole thing. If it breaks, it should be another part of the drive line that would snap before the weld breaks loose.

    That is nice; my '93 Grand had the Chrysler 8.25 in the rear and by the time I sold the Jeep it had developed a whine at speed from some chipped teeth.

    At work, if it is a crack we drill holes at both ends and then weld. I was told it helps to stop the crack from advancing.

    I've heard of that before also. The weld should be stronger than the host metal also so it should help strengthen the area.

    Very true. The only funky thing is what the weld (rod material) does to the structure of the piece under working stress/strain. If a piece had a little bit of allowable deflection (per design) under working load that may be reduced, or could transfer those forces to a part of the piece that may not be designed for the added load. Of course, for many applications this is just finicky nit-picking and will have no effect.
