...and that assumes that 5.45 holds the current price. Not going to happen.

When it comes to buying guns online, how does that work? You just send payment to the broker and tell them the FFL place to ship it to? Or do I have to contact my local FFL place and talk to them first about having it shipped to them. I would like to get 2 Ruger .380 LCP's for my wife and I to conceal carry when we get our license's and I've been finding them cheaper online through brokers than at our stores here and was curious as to how buying online works. Thanks for the info!

fair enough, and the "Obrez nagants are considered SBR's so there is that too

the bolt pistol on the other hand would not suck lol, I have a friend currently working on a 1400 yard savage striker....and I'm pretty certain that he can do it. I still want a savage striker or remington xp100 (preferably in 7mm-08...I like the round). It would be a lot of fun to hunt with IMHO.

Yeah. They are listed and charge a $20 fee for military. I knew the charged the fee. I guess I'll just be better off stopping by this weekend and talking to them about it. Thanks man!

Is there an AR10/DPMS .308 thread floating around? I can't use the search function on my tablet and it's all I have right now.

Basically just trying to figure out what parts are or aren't compatible.

Buds gun shop has some FFL's that are their "preferred FFL's" and they set it up for you, but with most online transactions (like when i bought my shotgun off of gunbroker) you need to call the FFL and ask if you can have a gun sent there for you to receive.

Definitely talk to your local shop first and know your local laws/regs. In MA, we have a whole list of regulations that prevent certain firearms from being imported or, if you do import them, sometimes you can have them made compliant but that's an additional cost. If I ship a non-compliant firearm to a MA FFL, they'll get it, reject it, send it back and I'll end up eating the bill for the transaction. Usually, the FFL's like to be given a heads up that something is coming to them, at least the ones I deal with like the notice.

Don't know if anybody saw this.. British sharpshooter takes out 6 Taliban with one shot.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...nistan-kills-six-Taliban-with-one-bullet.html

“They were in contact and he was moving to a firing position. The sniper engaged him and the guy exploded. There was a pause on the radio and the sniper said, 'I think I’ve just shot a suicide bomber’. The rest of them were killed in the blast.”
It is understood the L/Cpl was using an L115A3 gun, the Army’s most powerful sniper weapon.

If you are just starting out and don't have any of the aforementioned parts I would HIGHLY suggest checking out the all new DPMS G2 line of 308 rifles. IMO it's changing the 308 game entirely and making the previous generation of incompatible systems obsolete. I've had AR10's, LR308's and not being able to simply swap one with the other for whatever reason is a royal PITA. I'm actually in the process of selling off all of my current AR10/LR308 platforms and waiting for DPMS to release their 260 barreled G2 so I can buy a complete rifle. It's better, lighter and cheaper than the competition. I'm not normally what you would call a DPMS fanboi but they had the best new product at SHOT this year IMO and I'm sold on the platform.

Thanks. Dangit, I knew they had something new coming out, but had no idea it was making their other stuff obsolete. Reason I ask is because I'm doing a ground up build, milling my upper and lower.

If you're doing your own then this wouldn't apply. In my experience though even those upper/lower combos that are the 'same pattern' don't always jive. For instance, a POF lower is 'DPMS pattern' yet if you put a LR308 upper on a POF lower it will not match tight and will rattle. Sure there's easy and cheap ways to issue a band-aid fix but if you're like me such things will drive you nuts once you know it's there. If I'm going to pay that much money I want it to at least match up frames as good as a $500 AR15 would. That's why I hope the industry adopts the G2 from DPMS since it's a far superior design and offers many steps forward that the 308 AR platform desperately needs. If you're machining your own though this shouldn't really be too much of a problem since you can machine them to work with each other. I would suggest going the LR308/DPMS route though since this seems to be the most widely accepted pattern especially in the aftermarket and you can run 308 Pmags & such. Those are easily the cheapest and most reliable magazines you will find and this platform is VERY picky about magazines and how you feed ammo to them.

OK, thanks. Good to know. The G2 looks great, though. What are the differences between that and the LR308?

Mucho. Improved reliability with an all new bolt design. Lighter weight and weighs about the same as a comparable AR15. Same from the magazine back and shares most components with an AR15. Read up on it. It's tha shizz!

Yeah, it sounds awesome. I would go the complete rifle route if I weren't trying to avoid the awesome new long gun registration rules here in California. I came *this* close to buying a Ruger SR762 last week just to get my feet wet on the .308 AR platform, but just couldn't swallow the registration pill and decided to go the build route. I figure why not, I have the equipment, so why not just take my time and build exactly what I want. Plus, a certain infamous shop is literally a 10 minute walk from my house, so if I screw up I can just grab new forgings and start over.
