A few weeks back I was at a stop sign and my truck idle shuddered and almost died(rpms dropped out of nowhere).. I was thinking it was just a injector blockage or something anyways drove off and problem went away!
Yesterday same scenario except it shuddered and died! I put it in park and it fired back up with no problem/hesitation? It did NOT even throw a check engine light?? This obviously is going to happen again soon im asuming..
I ran seafoam about a month ago and it has been running like a champ up untill these mysterious incidents.. I have 140,000 miles and im thinking it might be my idle air control valve??
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance

maybe the iac valve needs to be cleaned........and while you do that....maybe change the fuel filter too and clean the tb(cause you'll already be into it with the iac valve).

As far as the IAC valve goes how do u go about cleaning it? does it need to be removed in order to clean? Is it a pain to remove?

yep.....not toobad to get to....on the bottom of the throttle body,so you'll need to remove it. you'll need a new iac valve gasket..and new tb gasket.

It's your Air Idle Control Valve. I had the same problem on mine. I had to replace mine, cleaning it didn't help much.

is the general consensus that its better to just replace vs cleaning it?
    Its a $270 part..
DId you have the exact same symptoms as me? is it easy to replace?
did it get to the point (dieing)where you had no choice but to replace it?
    thanks

At first it was ok I drove it like that for a week, I would idle at 300-400 then normal, then it got worst, so i tried cleaning it and made no difference. during the second week it would idle at 200-300 when coming to a stop or completely shut off. Or just starting it up it would die, then a restart and it would die, I had to hold the brakes with my left foot and gas with my right, and would drive around like that. I finally got it fixed during week 3. it was 320 for me using OE parts.
