Yeah its on my short list. Relocate the bottom mount so I can do a u bolt flip. Possibly/Likely box in the frame and change the top mounts.

I picked up the trail gear kit a long time ago just never got around to doing it... It comes with the frame plates to box the frame and two supports one for the shocks to mount to and one for extra support

Would be a decent route for you

 I like seeing progress! I kind of like the fact that in order to u-bolt flip we need to re-locate the shock mounts. Leaves room for possibly increasing travel.

Do you have a link for what kit you have? I'd like to check it out. What shocks did you have in mind for after you relo

To me it's more a pain in the arse. I'd like the clean look of flipped u bolts but not the extra work that goes into it.

More options = harder decision on what to actually do

But I can see your point.

I don't know about keeping it out but I'll probably clean it up real good and blast a shit ton of primer/paint in there before the plates go on (except near the where the welds will be)

    Then pray it don't rust

Since you have control of where you can mount them, can't you put them in a location that will net you more droop? Or would uptravel be concern then? I think the best way would be after you do the flip, jack the rear of the body up and see how low/high you can go? Does more travel result in less DD stability? Suspension is confusing.

/\ setup is better for off-road but can be less stabile on pavement. But really don't know shit. I've been trying to read up on other 1st gen'rs who have done it. I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel.

^^ this is what Ive gathered so far

I know a few others have just relocated them like this | | they just lean them back some. It gives you better road manners than this /\ and also better off road then stock

I think I'll probably go this route | | because my truck will be a DD as long as it still runs

Paul. Was the crossbar totally fabbed? Or did you get a kit.

Totally fabbed. I talked to the shop that does work for me ... told them what I wanted and they hooked it up. Boxed rear frame.. cross bar and shocks like this / \ . Great for wheeling but if I remember correctly it swayed a bit with all the weight back there. Not a big deal since it's mostly a trail truck. Said it gives it a bit more droop
