I just picked up my new 2014 Toyota Tacoma TR D. I noticed something when running at idol in park it has a weird vibration from what I don't know. It doesn't do it while in drive or while driving. I also noticed that when I turned it off it makes like weird suction noise after you turn the key off anybody have any idea what this is?yga2ajeq_10b4b76fac14d5d724436482926c72053724417f.jpg

The noise at shutdown is normal. It's for pollution control. You will have to be more specific about the other thing.

As bussin said, the strange suction noise is the smog pump. You can usually hear it when you first start the truck for a few seconds and for maybe a second as the truck is turned off.

How significant is the vibration, is there a noise with it or just the vibration?

It just feels very not as smooth as it should be at idle. Almost like a rough idle in park. But it only has 99 miles so we will let her break in a little.

But more of a driveline or exhaust vibration cause the rpms are steady.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Gremlins. These little guys cause all sorts of grief once they find there way into your engine compartment. Unfortunately an all too common happening, Gremlins just love the 2nd gen Tacoma apparently.

You NEED the get Gremlin Be Gone. This stuff works! Spray it all over inside the engine compartment and along the underbody areas. Reapply liberally. After a few applications your Gremlin related issues should subside.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Place your hand on the driver side fender above the wheel opening and push forward then pull backward...in my case the fender was not tightened up completely and vibrating. Check the hood fit and maybe adjust the hood stops. Check the skid plates are tight, too. Oh, nice truck by the way!

Heh, I've been meaning to ask about the shutdown sound too. In my head I've been characterizing it more as a quick grinding sound rather than a suction but I'll listen again with that in mind and hopefully put myself at ease.

Nothing to worry about. It's an odd sound.

Both my 2nd gen tacos had some odd vibrations that smoothed out after a few k miles. If it persists ask the dealer to look at it

I just picked my new 2014 up yesterday and have noticed both the issue the OP mentioned as well. I figured the noise when you turn the engine off was some sort of pump turning off. The vibrations have been noticeable when in Drive but holding the brake (like at a stop light) and don't seem to be as noticeable in Park. 200 miles on mine

theres no wasted HP with the smog pump.... its electric and it introduces clean air into the exhaust to aid the cats in doing their job, nothing more.

I bought a 2014 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road 4X4 about a week ago. I have noticed the same vibration you talked about in your post. It only occurs while in drive or reverse while the truck in not moving. However it does not occur when the AC is off. Anyone have any suggestions?

It is caused from low idle RPM's. In park and N my truck would shake quite a bit and I noticed that the RPM's were really low. I have had the truck shut off a couple of times from this also. I took my truck in for its 5k mile service and I had the dealership perform the TSB for Pinging and now my truck is running super smooth and the idle problem is gone. I can say that my issue is resolved :)

I had a slight "hum" while in idle in drive or reverse. The "hum" would go away if I put it in neutral. After few thousand miles it seems to have gone away, or I've gotten used to it.
