    ^^Bingo.

Or find a very good box. My current one is amazing. One of the best gyms i have ever been too period. They are so picky on form your not even allowed to do a real full on crossfit class untill you pass their intro course so they know you know all the movements well.

I still incorporate metabolic conditioning workouts in with my regular program, which was what crossfit essentially was. Metabolic conditioning combined with standard lifting movements and power lifting. What most, not all, people are calling crossfit these days is not that at all.

    And teaching form is huge.

I do hate how somehow they were able to label something and brand it into a corporation...even though there is nothing new about it at all..haha

    kinda stupid.

x2. "Coaches" now-a-days have ruined the image of crossfit. Pushing clients to lift heavier, and have form be sacrificed. I've seen countless vids posted by gyms cheering people on during a squat, DL, clean, etc.... The person going for a 1RM, and their form is pure snap city. Yet everyone sits around and cheers.

The clients don't know any better, and sometimes the coaches and gym owner don't either. So how are they to know that they need to find another gym. All they know is that said "coach" can squat 300lbs (ugly) and they think he's an olympic level athlete and believe everything he says.

CrossFit started digging its grave when they started "banning" some of the original people who actually gave a damn about fitness and health, and not just about $$$$$. Not that it matters for the current people. They've made enough money to live happy with, and when people realize that there are better/cheaper ways to stay just as fit the gyms will start to dry up and so will the money. I reckon Reebok will then buy the name and turn it into a women's fitness spin off.

I just wish it'd go back to how it was 6 or so years ago when I was into it. Form mattered, coaches knew shit, gyms weren't $150+ a month, newbs weren't running around talking about how awesome it is 24/7, every chick was hot, and most importantly I didn't have to see greg glassman or dave castro's idiotic selfs all over the internet.

With all that said, there are still some good gyms out there. Usually with a guy that's been doing it for awhile, or has been around the oly/power lifting scene for awhile. Gyms that don't give two shits about CF HQ, and the only reason they became affiliated is b/c it's almost the only way to stay afloat with a strength and conditioning gym.

All i can say is functional movements, with proper form...what good does a tricep kickback do for you besides work a little cranny of your tricep? I personaly dont like the way crossfit has become "commercialized" and the fees have gotten rediculous so to say. but when implemented how its supposed to be and when done correctly (im talking form) its an excelent program and thats why i do it. The problem is i see it implemented in such a bad way too often and thats why people get hurt and thats why it gets neg atention. I have my level 1 because i feel it was better then other personal training certs iv read the issa and nasm books and personaly i think there training models are shit. Nasm's opt model to me is a joke, there cardio chapter even a bigger joke...go read the croasfit level 1 book i found that 120 page book more informing than the over thousand pages of issa and nasm pages i read. Not gona bother to spend the loads of money to be certified thru either of those because i dont agree with the models. I do crossfit regularly and i strength train specificly to it...to the avrage person trying to better there fitness why do they need to be doing strict weighted pullups? Everyone uses the kipping pullup example, most peoples goal is to burn calories which is gona be related to intensity, so if they can do a basic form pullup and progress to more intense form like the kipping pullup why not? Its more efficent and faster when going for time on top of that aswell which is what crossfit focuses on because intensity=reslults. If your gona try and build a strong back or hyp train. ur gona do strict or weighted pullups...the are two completly diffrent workouts yet people act like they are the same thing...i just dont understand what people have against crossfiters its a great program just because its diffrent than what you do doesnt make it bad or wrong its just different so thats where i stand.

Sincerley an exercise science major typing on a shiitty iphone who probably spelt half that paragraph wrong...we might all have diffrent workout opinions but atleast we all like the best kinda truck :p

Probably b/c Glassman "stole" workouts from every type of workout/fitness program and put them into a circuit training routine and renamed it. A CF'er can't make fun of power lifters b/c CF'ers do power lifts. They can't make fun of BB'ers b/c CF'ers also do high reps. They can't make fun of gymnast b/c they also do gymnastic movements. Etc.......

I do crossfit to get better at Parkour/Freerunner maneuvers and build strength without packing on weight.. I've been going to my gym for about 4 months now, the cost is low (80$/month) the classes are small (no more than 10) and I'm friends with everyone who walks in and it's a real good time, i can def see that I'm getting wayy stronger, and Im glad I'm not in one of these commercialized type boxes..

    I'm off meh soapbox.

I agree with the oly and gymanstics part of that but not the bodybuilder part. Bodybuilders focus on physic and hypertrophy training and not so much strength and muscle endurance. And mostly crossfit is based around more functional type movements the only thing a bodybuilder and crossfiter might do the same is a squat or a strict press. I dont see the functionality like i said before in doing bicep curls and tricep kickbacks unless ur a body builder competing in show or trying to impress females, which theres nothing wrong with

Most people who workout are just razzing CF'ers. Similar to how the different military branches do. Give each other shit, but ultimately have respect. Same difference. The hate comes from the super CFers. The guys that wear vibrams everywhere, wear knee high rainbow socks, post CF crap on social media every flipping day, all while claiming CF is the best workout there is. Those guys get annoying. I worked at a CF gym for a bit years ago, and those guys would annoy me, and I freaking did the stuff everyday. Can only imagine how someone who's not really interested in it would think.

I give all my old and new CF buds shit from time to time. Usually we do the same sort of stuff, (just I don't do near as many reps or go as fast as them.) It's all in good fun.
