Ok. I just schooled myself in "p ratings".
Apparently LT tires have a stiffer sidewall for the added weight when carrying heavier loads.
P rated tires are for light vehicles, cars and such.
According to what I just read, you should never use a p rated tire on a light truck.
    Correct?

So yes. I would assume having a thicker sidewall adds quite a bit of weight to a LT tire.

Wow it's amazing how much better I feel with some extra sleep....and getting paid for it is even nicer. :p

Rich is dead on about the tires. Here's a link that is pretty close to everything I've read about tires from of some typical magazines like Car & Driver (if you trust them) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tire_code (Yes, it's Wiki) but, it's close at least as I recall.

I'm not sure how much difference in weight there is because I don't know what tire you're looking at RaginC. This link will give weight of a lot of tires http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire-brand.jsp of course the heavier the tire the lower the MPG and performance (like acceleration). Also, think of the weight of the tire as kinda like putting a 1 pound ball on an 18 inch string vs. a 2 pound ball on the end of an 18 inch string. Getting the 2 pounder to swing isn't as easy as getting the 1 pound ball to swing.

ok from what ive been reading the term "light truck" means personal truck ie. not a work truck or hauling truck but still a full size truck. Example f-150 chev 1500 etc. P-metric tires are for midsized trucks and SUV. Example 4runners, tacoma, etc. I have been running a "p" 265/75r16 AT tires on my truck for 20k miles now and am looking to upsize to a 285 but a "p" is not available from what i can find. Just trying to figure out how much of a difference i will be looking at in the power and mpg dept. I checked out that tirerack.com and that was helpful thanks. But there seams to be plenty of people running 285+ so im hoping its not to bad.

I think you'll see some change but not sure how much.

Lots of guys on here with lots of configurations running them but off the top of my head I don't know their mpgs.

Only five more weeks of class! I'm taking the summer off, will be the first time in 17 months I haven't been taking classes.

Just having to deal with work full time will feel like cheating. :yay:

Hello all. I'm still off but, the sleep is goofy.

I did spend yesterday getting some much needed yard work done. And pretty much everything other than what my swim trunks covered is SUNBURNED...including the top of my feet...it's over rated. :)

    How's everyone doing?

Rich any luck on uploading the pics?

& what classes (& major) are you doing?

Things are good here. No boss for a couple weeks so I loaded a bunch of movies on my phone. :)
I wasn't to worried about loading pics up. I was just curious about the album.
Hope you are enjoying your time off.
