I recently got a new muffler and tried gas from this offbrand gas station, I hope it's a batch of bad gas because my average was 15.4:/, that same gas station sold bad gas a few months ago that damaged quite a few cars, so not going back there.

I'm real surprised at my first in town fuel mpg.. 23.4 mpg

based on the fuel gauge position and miles so far I'm on par again with the same mpg.

Much better than I was anticipating.

Got an overall average of 23.5 in first 2900 miles of driving, mixed highway /city. Highest tank was 24.6 mpg . This was driving pretty conservative for best mileage.

No matter how conservative I drive I can't beat 21mpg in my 08. Maybe it's the gas quality here in Reno or the fact I'm at about 3,500 ft in altitude. I assume being in New Jersey, that you are closer to sea level.

About 200 above sea level. Drive easy, but not totally granny-like. Most times I skip either 3rd or 4th more out of laziness and save wear on clutch. I almost think not skipping gears might give better mileage because it keeps engine in power band. Using a vacuum gauge helps, drive to keep vacuum as high as possible. Distracting though. Someone once said , drive like your holding a raw egg between your foot and the gas pedal.

Welcome to the forum. That's great gas mileage, I wish mine would get that! Does the gas you use contain ethanol? Here in Reno all of our gas is E10 and I'm wondering if that's the reason for the differences in mpg.

Thanks, and yes I was very surprised with the gas mileage of this truck. It did change a small amount, about 1mpg when I switched to synthetic engine oil. In answer to your question though, we don't have ethanol in the fuel here.

unbelievable.. today when filling up, my second tank so far, I calculated 24.2 MPG. That is in town driving to work and running errands with the A/C on some of the time.

When I was reading these posts about the fantastic fuel economy of the new 2.7L I wasn't really buying it.. but now after purchasing one and driving it, I am a firm believer.

I'm going to get a canopy , next year maybe. I as thinking of getting a 1/2" piece of plywood and painting it for a cheap quick tonneau> figured i"d bolt it to the cleats and see what mpg i might get.Maybe use a rubber like coating/paint.Some thinner plywood should work too.

Interesting, as my calibrated scangaugeII shows 24mpg at a steady 70 mph (speedometer showing 74ish)

2nd full fill since ownership and I got 24.8 MPG.. outstanding

Also today I had a set of Konig Countersteers mounted up with Michelin
LTX MS 265/70-16 tires. Hopefully the extra width will not impact the fuel economy that much.

My stock steel rims and Dunny's weighed in at 60 lbs. The Konig/Michelin set up weighs 56.5 lbs.

Also per GPS my stock tires caused the odometer to read 3% fast. I was getting a 1/2 mile extra distance on the odometer with every 15 miles of distance on the GPS.

When I have an opportunity to check my new wheel/tire package I'll post results but I"m assuming the odometer and speedometer will be closer to accurate than the stock stuff.
