How does that 10 mm recoil feel? I've been thinking about picking up one for carrying in the field instead of Model 66. The .357 loads I've been using are snappy even with a 4" barrel and LOUD.

My boss just got a glock 20 yesterday. Going to the range with him this weekend to try it out. Will be my first time shooting a 10MM

If it was an AR15 I would agree with you. Given how finicky the 308 AR platform is though I don't think I'd mess with machining my own. $3k 308 AR's from well known top tier manufacturer's can be temperamental so I think I'd rather going with something from the factory and save the home built stuff for AK's and the like. May be worth the registration fee especially considering how inexpensively you can get a complete G2 for. Might be money well spent if you end up having issues.

I found it to be extremely comparable to my Glock 22...maybe slightly louder and slightly more recoil but very controllable and easy to shoot

I have no idea how the 10mm would feel in a smaller gun but in something like a Colt Delta Elite. ..would be very nice

I really, really don't want to register anything in this state. They aren't doing it for any good reason at all, so I'd rather keep my name off of any more of their lists if possible. Heck, I'm not even sure it's a good idea to apply for - and possibly get - a CCW being that the chances of them somehow using that against someone are far greater than that person ever needing it. Don't forget how incredibly shady the California government and ATF are. Just downright ****sucking scumbags.

I guess If I can't get it right with the receivers I can figure out another way to acquire a receiver set. But even then, I'm only out a couple hundred bucks if I ruin a couple.

I understand and personally I'd move before ever being faced with the dilemma you're in.

I want to move to Utah, but my roots are too deep here, at least for another couple of years. I'm trying to convince those who matter that it's the best thing to do.

    BUT ANYWAY... Guns.

Took my buddy shooting for the first time today. I think we have another member joining the club soon.

I'm considering a full sized pistol in .45ACP (considering .40 S&W also) and I really like the 1911s. So, what's your input on 1911's? I love them and would like to get one that is budget friendly, say $5-800. I've heard to stay away from Taurus and have heard great things about S&W, Colt, Springfield and I will try to go for one of those brands but what about the offereings from Ruger and Remington?

I love 1911's. Mine is also a Taurus. The only problem i've had is a worn out spring, but I got it used so no idea how many rounds have been through it. No other issues, and shoots great. I don't have any personal experience with Ruger but i've heard good things and i'd love to have one. I believe Beavis has one so maybe he can chime in
EDIT: beat me to it lol

I have my eye on a walther PPQ in .40. The one I am looking at is the 4" barrel, but it is also available with 5". When I was looking for a full size 9mm, I rented the PPQ and liked the feel of it and how it shot enough that I don't feel the need to look at other .40 pistols. The gun is brand new, and the pawn shop told me $559 for it.

In that price range rock islands are also a good option, I like the tactical II, though, I don't own one. I have a spring field milspec that I like a lot though. The newer taurus guns aren't too bad though

Thanks for the responses. I hadn't even heard of Range Rock Island, I'll do some research on them. I absolutely love the 1911, by far my favorite pistol.

Side note, I was in a local gun shop and I got to hold the S&W 500. That thing is a beast! I also got a picture of an AK47 that was made from a shovel  If I can get the picture off my dumb phone, I'll post it up.
