OAKLAND, Calif. —
A pedestrian was struck and killed in Oakland early Wednesday morning after walking away from a crash on Interstate Highway 880, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP received reports that a single car spun out on southbound Highway 880 just south of High Street at about 12:10 a.m., CHP Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

That vehicle, later identified as a 1992 Toyota Tacoma truck, was blocking the middle lanes of the highway. The pedestrian left the vehicle and began walking north toward High Street, according to the CHP.

A 2012 Dodge Charger traveling south on the highway at about 55 mph struck the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP officials said. The pedestrian's name is not yet being released.

The accident prompted the closure of lanes on Highway 880 for more than an hour, Van Eckhardt said.

Anyone at Solano Community College today park next to my lifted black 2014? Noticed a really nice built gray access cab with a light bar and all the trimmings two spaces away from me.

 

Spotted just now on I-5 North and Patterson exit. Silver DCSB w/ cap, front and rear bumpers, pod lights on hood hinge mounts, rotopax fuel cans on rear. Was pulling a trailer with a KTM dirt bike in it. Had an SFFD sticker on rear cap window.

 

Im bettin that was ffdawson.
