Chains

So can I not run chains on the front? what my alternative?

 

Uh, chains on the back? I guess I don't understand the question.

 

If you want to run them on all four - the limiting factor is the space between the tire and the upper control arm - and that's determined by which wheels and tires you mounted.

Once you're on lifted suspension and aftermarket tires, wheels, UCAs, the ruler is going to be the determining factor on whether you can run chains on the front, not the owner's manual.

No. Also keep in mind that 25MPH is about the limit you want to drive with chains.
The best thing you can do is get some good snow and ice tires. Take a look at this video.

It could probably be done with 235/85R16 tires, wheels that have 4" backspacing, and with some 1.5" wheel spacers. That would get the inside sidewall of the front tires far enough from the upper control arm so that the chains would be less likely to beat them to death.

 

Some people use wheel spacers to get enough clearance for the front. I think my brother-in-law bought 1" or 1 1/2" spacers and put them on all four wheels He's running stock wheels and tires.

 

I thought it was even noted in the owners manual to not put chains on the front due to potential damage.

What about cables on the front?
