They're a lot more fun when they're mobile!

I bet Charlie is like "aw man, the gates again? What did I do!?"

A slew of pricey stuff my wife hates me for.
I've got some friends who did their first floor in bamboo, a really crazy pattern to the wood grain. It looks amazing and adds a cool contrast to the place. I wouldn't hesitate to use it either.

Actually, you know what, it didn't strike me til you said that - they don't wear hardcore shoes in the house...that would make sense.

I actually have Armstrong 'luxury vinyl plank' (kind of an oxymoron, yes?) on the ground floor and it actually looks pretty good and has held up amazingly...I was attracted by the 'easy to do yourself' and 'goes over any subfloor'. The nice thing is it can be cut out and replaced in sections. There is piping embedded in the floor and I wasn't going to go with something super expensive and tough to deal with if one of those pipes ever goes...

Girlfriend's uncle has bamboo floors and they're all scratched up. He got them unfinished at lumber liquidators and coated them with gym floor finish (supposedly the hardest varnish as you can get) and they're still showing wear after about 5 years with two adults and two rat-dogs.
She weighs around 60-65lbs and when she gets wound up (a nightly occurrence; our getting home from work gets her excited) she runs laps around the house. It wouldn't take her long to start chewing up hardwood or bamboo with her nails, haha! We have white oak in the kitchen right now (mostly because I haven't replaced it yet) and it's starting to show some wear from where she runs across it after less than 2 years in the house.

We have bamboo in the basement and it warped, separated at the joints, and is slightly discolored.

It sounds incredible in my studio though!!

Did a cool little mod today on a whim.

Since repairing my bumper, I have had no turn signals (removed them for paint)

One morning I remote started the truck and the corner DRL's came on and I chuckled at how useless they are. THEN I got an idea.

I disassembled the socket for the DRL (white and green wires sticking up in the top right of photo)

Then wired the socket back together with the parking light/turn signal wiring from the lights in the stock bumper

And now I have functional turn signals in my headlights :)

Actually, Charlie can jump the gate now that he's grown up. I don't think he'll mind, now that Joseph is on solid foods, that dog never ate so good.

They have naturally colored bamboo, not the carbonized stuff. Not sure if it's strand-woven or not, but given the damage it's taken I'm going to go with 'not'
