If it was an AK I was going to suggest Rustoleum High Heat Grill spray paint in black as it's a near perfect match usually.

Nope, no AK yet. It's on the list of projects I want to complete but I have others in front of it.

I got a Walther PPQ .40 for myself yesterday. by the time i got home, the horses had managed to get themselves into a bunch of these little bramble type things that got all stuck into their manes, tails, and forelocks, so i didn't have time to play with it last night. about to go give it the initial cleaning and oiling.

If you can't unlock your gun safe in the dark you should learn how, it could be very useful to you.
I'd never thought of it until tonight.

Nah, just need to be able to get the the gun in the drawer, the safe takes too long unless you have one of the quick button safes that is designed for fast entry

That is why those small single or dual pistol safes have finger print recognition. You put your fingers on the molded in places that can be felt and not have to be seen.

Yup...my safe is only used for storage of guns I have little to no intention of using in a defensive situation....no need to figure out a lighting method for the dial

I had a pistol on me but wanted a rifle, and I was trying to get to it quietly and without using lights because the coyote probably would've run off with the lights getting flipped on.
Yeah, we don't have one of those yet, I'd like to have one but I have other prioritys right now.
This wasn't a defensive situation thankfully, but most likely if someone breaks in and my parents are home then we'd have to access the safe, but right now my parents are on a trip so we usually have a gun on us and easy, quick access to another weapon.

Lockdown has a magnetic light for that. I have a flashlight by the bed, so that works for me if the power went out or something.

I might have to find that magnetic light, our new gunsafe has the lighted keypad, but it's in another state.

Can't get the barrel off my Remington 700. Brand new, never fired, have the proper tools and even used heat to the point the blueing is almost changing color! Problem is I can't keep the barrel from turning in the barrel vise and don't have any rosin. Any ideas?

Figure it works for opening stubborn stuck on jar lids, might help grip the barrel.

    1. Use a single layer of Manila folder as a shim
    2. Put several drops of oil into the front base screw hole and let it sit overnight before trying it again.

These 2 tricks were key for me.

If you're not planning on reusing the barrel grind two flats on it and clamp on those. Bump the action wrench with a dead blow hammer. Penetrating oil in the front base screw hole may help. Factory barrels can be a challenge to break free.

Couldn't find any leather but put some penetrating oil on it and its sitting while I try and find some powdered rosin. Yes I want to save the barrel but thanks for the help guys!

Can anyone compare the differences and similarities between the Ruger LC380 and S&W Bodyguard 380? My wife and I are looking to get our ccw after our daughter is born and I like the fact that the Ruger LCP is 12oz when loaded but don't like that it doesn't have a safety and it will be in my wife's purse. That's why I started looking at the LC380. I've shot the LCP 380 before, years ago and like it, but I feel that S&W might be better fit for my hand and it too has a safety. Just curious between the two since they're both around the same price range.
