    Yes please.

    I think I found the problem. It appears there's a voltage regulator built into the 12v plug from the GPS. When I cut the wires from said plug I didn't think to take apart the plug and incorporate the regulator into the circuit, thus the loud frying sound I heard with I hooked up the switch.

    I had a 3A fuse installed but apparently that was too big...:(

    Yeah, you can't just hook that stuff up to 12v direct. My build thread has pics of me taking apart the transformer and hard wiring it. It's under the dash can install. Check the OP in my build for the link.
