Does your jeep have angry eyes?

My gf had one of the same vintage I hated that thing with a passion. Put two trannys in it and had a transfer case explode. Nothing electrical worked except for the alarm immobilizer( had to remove that because it would kill the vehicle for random hours). Rear doors both jammed shut, sun roof leaked. Never seen a vehicle that fucked upjeeptcase_08daaa6ec031051248f33a6e60d2d92a8ca2907c.jpg

    Touché.
I don't know if I'd ever be able to not wear workboots. I work in an office all day, and I wear still wear them every day. Hard to break the habit after years of working in parts stores and garages, I guess.
Plus I believe in being prepared to walk home, just in case.

And non-functional go-fast hood vents! Adds 20HP instantly!

I had a '93 ZJ w/a 4.0. Had it for about 3 years and around 50K miles and didn't put a dime into it for parts (other than a 2" budget boost and a set of taller shocks). I bought it for $2000 with just under 150k and sold it for $2000 with just over 190k. The only issue I had with it was the Chrysler 8.25 rear diff used to whine at speed because the teeth on the ring gear had chipped. I figured I'd drive it until it blew up and then worry about it, haha!
Never burned or leaked oil, no transmission problems, and no transfer case problems. But, I had one with a conventional 2hi-4hi-N-4lo transfer case and solid axles front and rear; none of that quadradrive junk.

No, but one of my vehicles is a 30-year old Dodge...

Plus I'm one of those paranoid nutters who believes in being prepared for whatever, regardless of how ludicrous it seems (like having to walk home because nobody's car will start, for instance)

Which one? I know there's the carrier bearing drop, and the 3 degree axle shims.

I haven't done any shims or drop, and I only have a small almost unnoticeable vibration at about 10mph.

The carrier bearing drop kit is just a spacer. I might still have mine . I'll check when I get home from work. You can have it if you want or I can measure it and tell you how thick it is .
I have 3* shims under my packs . Got them from toytec .

She didn't have this she had the 5.2 i bet 5.9 is rare. I will agree with you 100% the transmissions in the V8 magnums are the weak link. I replaced mine on my garage floor and got rid of the full time 4wd system for a 242 select-able full time case. Mine is from Ariziona so I do not have the water issues. She had electrical issues because of the way the sun roof drains the tube pops off half way down the pilar...whats below the pillar a fuse block. I perfer to work on something of this nature than the truck but I just put a deposit on an 05 C-rolla only power thing it has is power steering.

Snapping an axle? drive-shaft came apart at double cardon joint weakest link. 2 part shaft decreases the load on your output shaft so being much stronger when it snaps the shock doesn't crack your output. I broke a CV axle on the trail which is does happen. I built the engine and left the drivetrain stock so yea it was expected and could have been avoided with a tom woods like i have in my jeep.

    really 15??? My girlfriend has a SR5 v6 and she gets 20avg.

In some aspects i think it is personal opinion you do not have to agree.

I've got that beat. My last truck, a turned up 96 Cummins, ate 4 - yup that's right, I said 4 - 47RE trannies and 1 HD transfer case 241HD if I recall correctly. Not to mention 2 ball joints, 2 sets of tie rods, alternator, water pump, radiator, 3 front axle joints, blah, blah, blah... On the plus side I never seemed to have a tailgater problem.
