Thx OZ. By no means up to the standards of some of people's work on here, but it is a start, and am learning a ton.

Definately learned the hard way about forgetting to score the caulking prior to removing baseboads.

 

Your off to a good start, your drinking the right beer

 

Pulled out the carpet from the living room, the entry way, the dining room and the hallway. Got all the tack strips up and pulled some staples from the floor. Got everything done. Next we'll put down underlayment and the engineered hardwood floors. It'll be a floating floor.

 

Put up the fireplace. Started laying flooring. It's an engineered hardwood. 6" wide and assorted lengths from 2 ft to 5 ft.

 

Looks great. I have to put my engineered hardwood down some day. I plan on going the nailed down route as opposed to floating.

 

Evil monkey.... I recommend while you have all that plywood sub-floor exposed... screw it down! Eliminate the squeaks before you install the new floor. I used about 15# of 2" bugle head screws in my 20 x 20 living room! (and I still have one annoying little squeak right in the middle of the room...drives me nuts!) (Make sure you use bugle head screws.. drywall screws will break off before they tighten up.)

All the houses on my street were built by this cheap builder who used smooth shank nails on all the subfloors, and very little construction adhesive. Anytime one of the neighbors pulls up some carpet the neighbor guys get together with our impact drivers and screw everything down before the new floor goes in.

I did a floating floor because it spans over a concrete slab in the hallway.

It's just a pretty standard 25 MPA / 10 mm stone mix

 

Hey Oz, have you ever done decorative concrete? The quality of your woodwork combined with concrete would make some awesome pieces.

 

No , I haven't done a lot of really fancy stuff , but I have a few projects in mind , your concrete countertop project kinda kick started my interest
