Mpg

I recently made a hwy trip in my 09 tacoma access cab and i calculated i made about 17 mpg but i probably averaged about 80 mph does this sound right to anybody. I removed the charcoal air filter and installed an afe pro dry s filter.

 

how many miles on your truck?

 

about 6,000 miles on it, i bought it with 3,000 so who knows if it got broke in right

 

Prerunner or base model?

 

2.7L I4 or the 4.0L V6? If it is the 4 cylinder that seems a little low.

 

It is posted in the 4 cyl sections so assuming the subforum was chosen correctly, what is your driving style? Did you havethe truck loaded or hauling anything. That number is WAY low but some people say they see major improvements as the truck ages

My 2.7 4x4 gets 20-21 mpg in mixed driving. 17 is supposed to be the lowest mileage for a 2.7. 17city, 22 hwy are the EPA ratings.

My Taco is a 2WD, at 75-80 MPH I get about 24-26 MPG. I think a 4x4 2.7L should be getting above 20 MPG.

 

It will unless you are just doing city driving. Then you will get about 18 mpg. I drive about 60% hwy and average 20-21. The 4x4s have lower gearing and extra weight so there is a mpg penalty.

 

maybe i was a little harder on the throttle than i thought and the road had some slight hills most of the way, no i wasn't towing or loaded down. well from the numbers yall are telling me i think i need start keeping a close eye on it and see what it does in the city also. thanks for all the help this is the best damn site around!! i'll get back to ya with some new numbers

 

You also have to make sure that you completely fill up the tank when you get fuel.
