VIDEO! Truck Won't Start Post-K & N Intake HELP!!!

I just installed this

The truck starts but idles at 1600 for a second, then wanes and bottoms out like a stall. i feel some air coming out around the throttle body. I have no idea why the MF'er won't work!!!!

If anyone lives in Sacramento, PM me and let me know if you can give me a hand!!!!

You probably need to clean the MAF sensor, the filter probably got over oiled and some of the oil is on the sensor.

 

well it only ran for like 2 seconds before it shut off. could the maf have gotten dirty that fast?!?!?!

 

doubt it unless it was soaked with oil

 

Maybe disconnect your neg. terminal from your battery for a few minutes. Maybe computer got a little wonky

 

the kit is indeed new. i'll try disconnecting the battery again. that might work.

the weird thing is that if there is a leak of air, that shouldn't stop the engine from running. i'm assuming you could even run the engine with no air intake (open?) practically. a leak shouldn't prevent the truck from starting.

i'm pretty sure i connected everything again.

the maf is connected. the fuel pressure regulator is connected. what else is there?!

super frustrated.

 

If it's enough of a leak it will stop it from running, the engine gets in such a lean condition (to much air for the amount of fuel being injected), but that only happens if the leak is past the MAF sensor.
Where is the air leak?

well i took it off and put it back on and it still won't work. i can't find any leaks or anything. totally stumped.

 

Are all the electrical connectors plugged back in. One time I removed my intake system and forgot to plug one of the sensors back in after reinstalling, and it acted just like you are describing. It would start and run for a few seconds then shut off.

 

Check your connections at the MAF sensor and your vacuum lines, although I doubt it's your vacuum line. It would run, but idle really high. Probably your MAF sensor not connected or if you dropped the sensor, you could have broken the little resistors in there. Clean it off, make sure you tightened down all the clamps on the intake hose and that you have a good seal at the MAF sensor. There's really not much else.

 

Make sure your MAF sensor isn't installed in the reverse direction.

see the note. the picture makes it impossible to known which direction to mount the MAF sensor. i did it so it would face the cord, so it'd reach easier. did i mess that up?

 

well the only electrical connections were the secondary air pump (reconnected under air filter) and the maf, which i connected. am i forgetting one?

 

okay i think this might be what i messed up. the connection is facing toward the front bumper, not the back bumper. is this wrong?

 

Try just rotating it 180 degrees and see if it runs.
