    If you're running a firestik, check the mounting. It's really common to screw it together incorrectly and cause the center lead to short the ground.

    this. make sure ground is grounded and signal is not.

    I've seen several uncooperative installs where all it took was making sure the nylon washer was put on the correct side of the mount so that signal is isolated.
