Yea, you are probably right... Thanks your your help. If I get off work early enough tomorrow, I'll take my ECU to the dealership. Hopefully they say it's toast mostly because I hate not knowing what's wrong.

Listen, if you have corrosion, like you posted a while back, I would not trust the ecu ever again. Once corrosion forms you never get rid of it.

Your ECU is toast. If it had power going through it while it was wet its done. The board started to rust already, if it still works which i doubt, it will be something that you'll be replacing soon enough anyways.

Will I have to get new keys if I get a new or used ECU? Or at least my original keys reprogrammed to the replacement ECU?

I have been updated the OP on any new info. Right now I'm waiting on the ECU to ship. Really crossing my fingers that it works.

Ding ding ding....we have a winner. My hero from so far away. And i am a believer of not putting the battery on the ground, no matter how many people say its a myth. I remember doing a taco timing cover years ago, left the battery on the floor pretty much all day, put it back in and it was dead. After the second time, i wont do it again.

No worries. I do love hearing all the comments on never charge or place a battery on concrete. It's been proven many times over that it has nothing to do with the concrete.

I have to agree here. These things are not a simple diagnosis when a vehicle has been submerged, or partially submerged.

I am hoping that you have it on this one. It is pretty much a very key thing that if the ECU does not turn on the CEL, or a scan tool will not communicate with the ECU, that either it is failed, or has a missing power or ground. If you find the replacement doesn't fix it, let me know. I can get you the wiring diagram for all of this.

    Bingo.
The myth is rooted in people leaving a battery on the concrete in their garage for 6 months and when they try to use it, it's dead.
That will happen with or without the concrete.
Ya, from the looks of that alternator, the starter, crank position sensor, and for that matter, every other sensor under that hood is going to look like that and not be in very good shape.

The mess that he's got is over MY head, at least as far as getting it up and running in a weekend or two.
I'd be doing a complete teardown and detail from the frame up.

There's a reason insurance companies total out vehicles that have been flooded. They simply are not worth the time and trouble to diagnose and repair.

And even if everything gets fixed, it's a big assumption that the engine was not damaged when the water was pulled into the cylinders.
Likewise, sitting out there as it was with water in the engine and oil pan, the bearings are not going to be in good shape.

Luckily you subbed it in fresh water.

I subbed my access cab in more water than that and got away with just having to replace the ECU, AC amplifier & eventually the starter & air injection pump. It took me about 5 oil changes to get rid of all of the water in the engine. front diff, trans & transfer case had water in them.

I purchased a used ECU on eBay and it did not need to be flashed or different keys.

So, there is no insurance company involved here. Why? Just curious.
