steering vibes

Just wondering , the people getting vibrations in the steering wheel at around 55+ mph , what rims are you using?


I had vibrations for a while, took a bit but they are gone now.
combination of bad balance, possible "warped" rotors and over tightening of the lugs

 

I have a similar issue. Around the same speed up to 75+, also when slowing down around 35 using my brakes. I don't seem to notice it while coasting. I'm having my dealer check it out again this Fri., tires were rebalanced not too long ago, that helped but it seems to have come back. I'll post my results.

How do you know how tight a duck's ass is???

 

I do know a duck's Va jay jay is corkscrewed... so I assume the ass is tight lol

 

Can't vote because I got zero vibes......

 

Had a road force balance done, still have vibes. Now dealer says they used the wrong adapter. Not sure if i should give them a 3rd try or not. Toyota says if i go to another dealer i may have to pay a diagnostic fee! They aren't helping me like i thought they would.

 

I think a better question is what tires are on those wheels.

 

Bridgestone H/T Duelers, came on truck with the stock wheels on the TRD sport pkg.

 

Have the Duelers too but with no vibes. Quite please with them

 

+1, Almost all steering vibes are from a improper tire balance, unless your front end is falling apart.

When you get your tires balanced next time, watch the guy that is doing it. I rotated my tires and balanced them like 500 miles ago +/- and I was getting a vibration from 65-70, it was pissing me off pretty bad so I took the rim back off and spun it 180 degrees because it balanced kind of heavy. After that I think it only needed like 2.50 ounces of weights, well the vibration was still there so I took the tires of the rims and kept the tires where they were at, moved the heavy rim to the right rear and rebalanced them. Now, it rides good like it should. So watch the guy and if the weight is still good maybe try having them switch the rims out. Unless it's time for a rotation, then go ahead and do that. Tim.

If your steering wheel is wobbly or vibrating, you most likely need your tires balanced.
