So you've been told by the big boys that the only option for you 6 speed manual Taco owners to get lower t case gears is the Lefty right? WRONG!!!

RockSolidToys has come up with yet another solution for your low gear whoes when it comes to your Tacoma. The lefty was a good idea when it came out but for these heavy trucks with their horse power ratings, reliability quickly became an issue. But how can you get lower gears for your off road needs in a six speed Tacoma?

Stayed tuned and I'll tell you in the morning. RST is at it again!!!

Don't ever let anyone tell you it can't be done. I've heard that my entire life and have found ways to make it happen anyway. Now it's your turn!!!

    SEE YOU IN THE MORNING!

I'm still waitin on the adapter plates to become available! Then change my 6 spd tcase input, and install.

Or is this some sort of new update? I've been waiting to buy my crawler for almost a year now.

I thought the crawler box already worked with the 6 speed.

Spoonman, this is more edification for those that don't already know. You and I have talked so your ahead of the game. Adapter plates should be in by the end of the month and I'm in the front of the line. ;)

OK. Here is the issue with the six speed taco's and the reason you just can't bolt up a crawler.

On the left is the input for the automatic version of the Tacoma t case. It's a 23 spline. The same as what the rear of the crawler box will accept. For you 5 speed manual guys, you have the same t case as the automatics do. On the right is the six speed version of the input shaft. It's bigger and has less splines. 22 of them. The issue is the coupler on the inside of the crawler wont accept this input shaft and know one is going to make one to fit it either. Too expensive and not enough demand.

    DSC00674640x480_2e9e6b478838309403930a5c4b3abc2f04d4dcb9.jpg

So the solution is to simply change the input shaft from your six speed t case for one out of an automatic or 5 speed manual tacoma t case. Now, there are a couple of other things you'll need to do to make this swap work so follow the directions in this link Crawler for six speed Taco And you should be good to go.

I've done two of these conversion already and I'll be doing two more of these conversions at the end of the month.

I just wanted to get this information out there to you guys because I've been flooded with emails and pm's from folks that have been told it can't be done. Hog Wash! I've always wanted to say that.... :D

I wasn't at my computer last night so I couldn't pull the picture I wanted so thats the reason for the tease.

    Wyatt

Yes. As long as it's from an automatic FJ. Not the six speed.

Thanks. It's an FJ cruiser t case that I converted to twin sticks. All manual. No more electronics.
