Does replacement I.D. cancel out old one if found?

Long story short, I lost my NYS ID at a bar, so the next day I ordered a new one online. I received my new NYS ID today, and my old one was mailed to me after being found. Now I have a brand new NYS ID, and one that is only about 15 days old...( yes I lost it in no time)

Will the old one still scan? If I want to carry one and keep the old one as a backup? or since it's a different expiration date it isn't valid? I know it can be used as a photo ID at like a bar, but will it be valid from the scan and or police if pulled over

 

The old one will scan. But the old one needs to be returned, i know in maryland you can get a citation for possessing 2 id's

 

I know you can get in trouble for have two ids on you at once, it just says to cut up the old one in the letter
