I thought about the 883s but really like how the 882s ride. They have a softness to them that reminds me of my old XJ and the OME suspension I put on it.

that's what I hear about them. Which is funny because I think the 883s are super smooth and soft on the bigger stuff. I hear my bumper might arrive in 2-3 weeks so hopefully they'll be even better with the extra weight.

I think you'll like it. I noticed a huge difference when I finally got the Elite on. Sure, there was a bit more lean and sway while driving but the ride really mellowed out.

I'm going to guess that the 883s are already feeling nice because of the weight of the dcab.

How much did the 882s settle with the bumper on?

I think it was close to an inch. I had to go to a 1/2" top plate spacer to bring the nose back level with the rear.

Interesting. I'm hoping the 883s won't settle that much. But I have a bro-lean with them now anyway so I hope it does drop it a little. I bought new shackles that should be here next week so I can gain back some rake with those hopefully too.

Did you just wire the speakers to the amp and then the rca's to the head unit? I'm doing this as well but no sub.. And did you get the sound deadening kit yet?!

Yup, ran all new speaker wire from the amp, under the carpet, to the door thresholds and to the door/back side panels. And, yes, ran rcas from the HU, underneath the center console collar (w/ the 12v outlets), underneath the shifter console and poked it out underneath the seat.

Yes, one of the most noticeable mods done to my truck. Road noise got cut way down. I don't have to crank the volume as much.

I'm not big on subs. I love music but a vehicle is for driving. Give me good quality but it doesn't have to be just like my living room system.

I see you're from NoVa. I lived in Tidewater for a good bit and went to VT. I miss the Appalachians at times.

Sweet, I'm finishing up the sound system tonight, was just making sure i'm not missing anything. Running the amp under the drivers seat as well, hope to see a big improvement! Although, the sound deadener i got wouldn't adhere at all so I was contemplating on either 1. forgetting about it and sending it back or 2. making my own adhesive and putting another hour into after work..we shall see!

WTH, moved to VT from VA?! VA has some fantastic seasons but I'm sure VT does just as well :p

VT as in Virgina Tech. ;)

Some of the sound absorbing stuff requires a heat gun to activate the adhesive. Not sure the stuff you have is like that. I love the RAAMaudio stuff. Sticky as all get out. Went on easy-peasy. www.RAAMAudio.com
I got Package #1, was more than plenty for an extra cab.

Did you do underneath the carpet as well? Don't know if you can do that but I thought I would ask

I did not. Wasn't worth the effort to me. I know others have but I can't remember who off the top of my head. The carpet will do some amount of road noise filtering and the shape and bolting in of the seats and stuff helps break up resonances in the floor.

Most of what I read, the back of the cab and the door panels seem to be the big offenders.

Alright. Thanks! Definitely was throwing that around in the back of my mind and didn't know the answer of it so when it came up in your thread I thought I would ask :D. Thanks for the insight

Blacksburg is definitely a nice area...glad to hear you weren't in yankee town! this is as far as I got today. Tomorrow I'll put the paneling back in but it's Monday and Mondays suck as is y4e8emag_e4b6b297ec8287489d09d415bc6c97645e6de00f.jpgesuja2uh_cdf6854da459984298df33679f25a52288770766.jpgnyzaperu_ae2e1da4270fb7b5ce885d49d12c34dacb4af6d7.jpg

    Nice taste in speakers!

One of the things that might make it stick better is to either:
    1. take off the vapor barrier and stick it directly to the metal after cleaning it with alcohol.
    2. clean the vapor barrier with rubbing alcohol (if you didn't do that already).

Also, we applied some damping material behind the rear speakers. It is a large unbraced panel. If you have the high frequency stuff (foam fabric) apply a 6" square bit behind the directly behind the door speakers. It'll help clean up the midrange by quelling reflections off the back side of the cone.

Oh, I miss building speakers and amps.

I'm getting to be an old fart. Left B'Burg permanently in 1997. Been back to visit a few times. Every time I do, it seems so different.

I actually ended up using some plastic, metal, wood adhesive from Walmart haha it worked pretty well. I didn't get the foam stuff but I'm wondering if I can just get the foam egg crate things from total crafts or something and use that. It's sounds great and powerful without any of the paneling back in so I can only imagine how deep and crisp it will be when complete!

if you do get the egg crate stuff, you don't need much. A 6" x 6" piece will be all you need for each side. Don't get too thick either. Try to find the thinnest you can, around 1/4" maybe 1/2" thick at most.
