just talked to scotty at addicted and he is going to warranty my diff. we pulled the front drive shaft on the t-case side to make sure it wasn't that first. t-case is fine so front diff it is. drained a bit of gear oil and no flakes of metal but it is seized like a mofo! he was about as dumbfounded as we were on the side of the road. so i'll be pulling it and taking it back in to see what the hell went wrong.

as we were under the truck scotty points and says "dude, your head gaskets are leaking".............:annoyed:

    when it rains.... it pours.

so who wants to help with head gaskets :)

I replaced the heads (and of course the gaskets) on my Ranger and it was actually pretty easy. That said, the Ranger had a pushrod motor and these tacomas are overhead cams. I honestly don't know if that adds or subtracts from the complexity of the job. If the intake manifold can stay in place, I'd guess it would be easier, if not, I'd guess it would be about the same??

Edit: wasn't thinking about the 3.4... Is the 3.4 overhead cams too? Also, with overhead cams you'd need to set the timing right. Didn't have to mess with timing on a pushrod. Don't know if these are interference motors or not either. I'm sure Jace or someone will chime in.

As I understand it, there are varying degrees to the severity of "leaking" head gaskets too.
If you're leaking cylinder pressure into the coolant you'll pressurize your cooling system. That HAS to get fixed. If you're cross contaminating oil or coolant, that HAS to get fixed. If you're just leaking a little oil or coolant out of the head, that can be limped along by adding the necessary fluids.

Won't spoil the surprise on the design but I will say that it will follow several design cues from my sliders. Expecting mixed reviews from people but i don't care because I strive to be different withy custom work.
