My father in-law was driving and his 2012 tacoma with only 20000 miles on it switched to 4 low while going about 25mph (give or take). when it happened the dash went crazy and all of the lights started flashing. after he stopped it locked up and would not move or change gear. after about 2 hours he went back out to check on it and it started working fine. he took it to the dealership and they cannot find anything wrong with it. any idea what might have caused this to happen?

Dealer found nothing wrong? If the truck did shift into 4lo while at that speed there'd likely be some stripped gears or something blow'd up.

If you're not trolling, you've been lied to by your father in law.

I was driving along and all of a sudden my Tacoma took off like a rocket.
Had to pull over, popped the hood and found a Super Charger installed.
Don't know where that came from....
Oh, then I woke up said I got to go tell someone.
    Thanks for this thread.....

    Seriously,
There is no way that could happen while driving in 2h, 4h, nor anytime while moving. Sorry for your ignorance

Try jamming into reverse at about 75 Mph, and see what happens.
