I forgot.

When your getting a Strap, make sure it does not have a metal hook on either end. A lot of straps have those and they are BAD news. If the strap was to break (which can happen) you would then have a metal hook flying through the air at a very high velocity which could easily kill/seriously injure somebody. Also, never hook to a receiver ball. It can also break and easily do some serious damage to somebody or their truck.

 

that lift kit sounds like a deal, send me a link for it, and are the lifts good for that amount of money? did u put the lift on ur tacoma?

 

I haven't lifted my Taco yet because because I don't have the cash for it right now. Bilstien 5100 Adjustable Shocks (front only) for $162

If you want to lift the rear of your truck, get the Toytec kit. If you only want to lift the front (makes the truck completely level) go with the 5100s. I'd reccomend getting all four 5100s because its a better deal than just the front. Both kits are great quality and are what I myself would put on my Taco (I plan on getting all four 5100s).

The first kit on Toytecs website (the one thats $219)? Yeah its a pretty good kit. Toytec is known for making great stuff for our trucks. You can email them and ask any questions about their kit. I have heard nothing but good about their products.

 

didnt you say that i only lifts the back? if so then i am probably going to get the four bilstien shocks

 

The Bilstiens only lift the back. In the front they preload the coil to achieve lift. In the rear they just serve as better shocks.

The Toytec kit lifts the front end 3 inches and the rear one inch (this is normal for a 3" kit).

 

soo would i have an even lift height with both lifts. so if i get the all four adjustable shocks i can change the height (i know i sound stupid probably, im new to this) but the toytec would that make the back end sit up higher?

 

Don't worry about sounding stupid. Everybody was new to this stuff at one point.

The Bilstien 5100 shocks can only lift the front of your truck. They work by pre-loading your front coils to increase your ground clearence. In the rear there are no coils, thus it can't provide any lift. The 5100s in the rear will improve your ride quality though. The maximum lift you can get in the front with the 5100s is 2.5" or 1/2 an inch less than the Toytec kit.

The Toytec lift will lift the front of your truck 3 inches by placing a spacer between the coil and its housing. The rear of the truck will be lifted one inch by doing what is called AAL, which means add a leaf. The leaf springs are a part of your rear suspension.

Another thing to consider is if your truck has had the rear suspension TSB done. If it has then it should have 3 leaf springs and 1 overload spring, if it only has 2 leafs and 1 overload then your truck does not have the updated factory leaf springs. If you don't know what a leaf spring is I will post a pic of my truck Tomorrow to show you what I am talking about.

 

i think i understand it now, i think ill get the toytec, but was weird is that on the pic of the toytec 3 lift it look like a lift for the back but i could be mistaken, i read what it does and sounds good. i think my truck has the 3 leaf spring but i could be wrong, but im sure it does cause its the TRD sport so it may have it. tomorrow ill check my truck out and let you know. I am so happy that i talked to u about this because i think you saved me 1400 dollars being spent into rims and tires, now i can buy my stuff sooner because i can draw the money quick for the k&n air intake system and lift.

thanks man, but i dont think the lift will happen until some time this summer but yeah i will deffinetly put pics up and be sure u do the same. also like i said ill get back to you tomorrow on how many leaf springs i have.

well thats a good way to put it but too risky, plus i respect my Taco too much to do that and love her too much, if it was a chevy or something that would be a different story (not saying chevys r bad). im getting my liscinse in a couple of months and when taht happens ill be driving all the time because i love driving and school starts right when i get my liscinse so i would not want to start out the school year with a busted truck and a rental for a month lol
