How to: AC outlet in cab + 400 Watt Anytime Mod 2nd gen

Taking it apart takes about 3 mins

 

Did this mod and the all time 400w at the same time took about 1 hr taking my time and tested with meter to verify 120v at the outlet.

 

Sweet. Any pics? Once people start posting pics I will probably add to the first post to give people ideas on what outlet(s) they used and locations.

 

I used the single white like you did as i couldn't find one in black locally i will probably order a black one as i dont really like the white. I choose the standard single recpt for the ease of install . Used a dewalt hole saw and drill.im not good at making square holes.lol and im an electrician by trade so i have lots of hole saws.

 

I post a pic later of the final install but as for the wiring its pretty straight forward your write up is easy to follow.

 

Yea I used the white because to make sure it wouldn't get loose (nut holding it) I think with the black eventually it would loosen with the glue you'd be using to hold it in place. Thanks. I tried to make it easy for everyone.

 

I going to order a black single household just like the white only in blk they make them there just not a home depot or lowes on the self item in my area. But for now it works and i can live with that. Ya i kinda felt the same about the snap in ones id be worried my son will break it and get shocked.

 

Cool idea but I want an outlet in the bed and since sr5 have pretty much came up nothing that still looks close to factory.

 

?? I have the factory outlet. I just tapped into those wires so I can also use that power for the rear seat passengers. (Charging their phones)

 

Oh I didn't know they made that in black. I probably would have done the same if I would have known.

 

This mod has been on my unwritten to-do list. Thanks for taking the time to write it up! I've been thinking about replacing the stock inverter to one much more powerful. This is a great write up and helps me imagine how I would do it. THanks!

 

I was wondering why you used white until i was at home depot and thought i grab one and to my surprise no black went to a few local hardware places and only found wht and ivory. So the next time im at a electrical supply house i will order one. Since i go a few times a month. Im in no hurry now its done. I also might go with gray i will see it it looks better. I have a gry duplex recpt. Sitting in my shop.

 

Yea I didn't really look into it that much and just bought what I found. That's why I'm asking for pics, to give people more options and see ideas they never thought about.

here are the two color options i was thinking of but no one local carry's them so i pulled this from Amazon.i will probably order these when i get around to it as i dont like the white so much.for some reason the are cheeper so i will go with those as it dosnt matter cause even the 15 amp is over kill as someone already said at 120v @ 400W is 3.33Amps
