I did see a picture floating around when I was searching for the install instructions. It looked like the fins were brought inboard. Basically the boots thinner, which means you have more clearance between the boot and the coil.

 

Yes, no fins. I've got them at home and can snap pics later.

gotcha. i have my balljoint positioned all of the way out, and have clocked my springs accordingly, so i don't get coil pinch, however, i'm always interested in a better seal on the taperd portion of the BJ. version 2 greatly improved that, but there is still some room to get better.
