Thanks for pointing that out. I get too wrapped up in pushing vs pulling and other BS I forget little things like that haha.

This has gotta be one of my most unproductive weekends ever. The only thing that actually got DONE was cutting off the old motor mounts. :anonymous:

Got the rear links started, not finished.
Got the new motor mounts started, also not finished.

In addition to to simply getting rid of the unsightly welding, I figured relocating the mounts to the top of the frame would better support the weight and (I guess) reduce any effects from frame movement or vice versa

For lack of a better pic -

While building the new motor mounts, I moved the engine back another 2" - 2.5" or so, total of at least 6"+ back from the OEM location.

That should help bring the COG back a little, gives more room for crap in front of the engine, and allow the winch line to come straight down to the axle/skid for the hydro assist.

    Allow me to demonstrate --

    wut

two winch lines coming off one winch?

Edit: nevermind, I see what you're doing. Do you really need a second fairlead when hooking up the line to the axle? You won't be actively running line or pulling from a funky angle. I would think it'd be easier/simpler to just drop the line down and hook it up without having to thread it through a fairlead.

    :humble:

Probably not, but I'm not sure. In my head I keep picturing the winch line flying all over the place and half unraveling off the drum with slack on the line as the suspension compresses when hitting bumps :notsure:

Is there something that can hold the line down on the drum?

    Wut???:der:

Uh..if you wrap the line under tension..and just get a shackle end or one of the thimbles...it ain't going anywhere.

It would likely be attached to the axle most of the time? Buggies, etc use suck down winches to keep the suspension from unloading and pushing the rig over on steep climbs/descents

I'll be mounting an ATV winch in the back.

Okay...I don't get the point??? Why? What's the point of having 20" of travel if your not going to use it??

    It's a pretty common/normal thing.

It's for temporary use while the rig is pointing skyward and sucks the body in close to the axle keeping the COG low enough that the coilovers don't unload and push the rig out away from the ledge and onto its lid.

    That makes sense.

Why not weld on a shackle mount and then when you need to do that. Just jump out. Undo the winch line a bit and shackle it to the axle. Suck it down. And go.

Cause I'd assume you don't want it like that all the time

Yeah that's what I may end up doing. I like this option too.

Yea just get two of those clips things. One for the axle and one for the body.

Why would you need to clip it off fast, it still doesnt have a hook on the end, and you will need to put a shackle through it? Im assuming this is still using the atv winch correct?

    No it's on the front.

For recover situations yes you'd need a shackle.

But for just storing the cable. You wouldn't. And for winching down the body to the axle you wouldn't.

ATV winch in the rear, dedicated to the rear axle only. Front winch would be 8,000lb + and be dual purpose. (Suck down and recovery)
