i essentially just built a kayak with two outriggers and then adapted a windsurfing sail and mast on it. I was a little one seater trimaran. check out some of the Hobie setups for ideas on sails on kayaks

they look like what im after, i just need to figure out how to retrofit a rudder to my kayak, shouldn't be too hard.

i almost forgot i had these, but i found some old renders of the hull i designed one day for a school project, it was a sailboat hull made out of 1/2" plywood sheets.

not really, but I guess if your towing long distance than it makes some sense to get a larger truck but if your just going to a local lake or river I say keep the tacoma as long as it is inside its towing capicity.

900 miles right at towing capacity. 6500 lbs fully loaded with fuel and gear. sucks fuel, but tows very well.

I guessing that was not just a weekend trip or even a week long one

I towed it from VA to FL for my folks. I got to use/store it for 3 months down there, and then they flew down and took it back up to DC via the intercoastal waterway over the course of about 3-4 weeks, just stopping off at bed and breakfast joints along the way and enjoying the water. It's an established route called the "1090 trip". 1090 being the mileage of the trip by boat.

Do you fish from your yak?

I rigged up my fishing kayak with a rudder, but eventually took it off to add a different anchoring setup. If I just paddled, I would have kept it on.

Anyone looking to build their own kayak, sailboat, or hybrid of the two should take a look at Chesapeake Light Craft. They sell boats/kayaks, the kits, and jsut plain old maring ply. their're right in Annapoplis, so probably local to a number of you. I went to them for my marine grade plywood when i built mine. great people with a TON of knowledge. they make some absolutely beautiful watercraft too

What are we looking at here? Your truck not properly seated on jack stands? Or that it's levitating.

    On the LCA

    SMD! :p

All my life, never had access to a lift. Never had a vehicle fall of jackstands (knock on wood and pray to god that continues to not occur).
