I had a storm too. I was sheep hunting and it was about 10* outside. Got a little close to the fire and the heat shattered the screen. At least I think that's what happened, I put it in my pocket in one of those leather slip cases, it was fine. Took it out about an hour later to shut it off, and it was broke. I decided to give android a try and thats what I am still using. BB is good at what they do, thats just not what I need in a phone.

I met Melvin (aka Chopper) here on the streets downtown in Lincoln. I talked with him for about a half hour. Man he had me cracking up! This guy is awesome! Anyway I thanked him for his service, he somehow could tell I served and thanked me too and we got to talking. He took off his shirt right there in the street and showed me his tattoos. SEAL Team 2 (Vietnam) and TONS of Hell's Angels tattoos on his back and stomach. We got to some serious discussion and he said that "Chopper," his old name, was as good as dead now, and that he has a bad past and did bad things, but he is grateful to be a new man and have a new life. He lives in a barn loft and cleans, feeds and rides the horses to pay his rent, and then panhandles the streets just to help his daughter pay the bills. Seriously the best guy I've ever encountered in all my time walking the streets talking to people. I can only relate on a small level, but he has definitely started a 'New Life' entirely. That's my take on 'New Life' ha

Cool. I love this because it just goes to show that you never really know a damn thing about any stranger on the street, but of course we all make our shallow judgments based on ignorance constantly.
Interesting how Monte's theme is general enough in a universal sense to elicit such diverse thoughts and responses.

    BTW, stalking 24/7

For real, man. I've talked to A LOT of street folks since my days in Cali and here in Lincoln and yeah, a few (including one today) were basically drunks who didn't want to contribute to society, but the majority, and I mean that, the majority I've talked to have a rough past and just want someone to talk to for a minute or two. This guy right here was proud that he was a contributing member to society and helping people any way he could with what little he had. And it was the Wars the messed so many Vets up that they end up homeless and can't figure their life out when they come home. Yet we treat them worse than animals.

One dude I talked to was a disabled vet and lost everything and he said these college kids would always find him when he was napping, take his cane, and throw it on a roof or something just for a laugh, so he could hardly walk without it and had to find a new one. Kids are more worthless than him if you ask me.

Yup. It is disgraceful how vets are left to suffer, especially what they have been put on the line for petty politics, and their lives, or worse, their family's lives, are ruined for decades. Fucking disgrace. Every olf guy I see now, I think, he could have jumped into Normandy, he could have been in Tet. You just never know. And kids don't have a clue. They find the old humorous and annoying, and we'll never be able to change that. They have no real power, but they test what they have on the defenseless. Coward pussies.

Anyway, great shot and great story!

This guy gave me a play jab to the jaw and I said my beard would have blocked it if was a cool grey one like his. He grabs it and says it's too soft. Something about it needing to be harder. I asked if his was like steel wool haha

My dog caught this last night and my GF and I saved the and let it go (mostly cause she didn't want the "cute little bunny to be eaten" lol)

I'm up in Santa Barbara and this cherry tree is in our front yard of the rental. Had time for a quick edit and post. Shot with my new 6D and 24-105mm, F4.5, ISO200, 1/1600. Gotta run!
