Anyone around the Clark county nevada area hear about this yet?

I'll dig up links in a minute but it'll take you three seconds to google #bundyranch

    Apparently
Clive bundy, through direct family line has owned a massive plot of land for centuries off the 15 and has always had cattle grazing there.
The desert Tortoise was marked endangered, and was decided to live on his land, so BLM has since been confiscating his cattle- 300+ as of tonight off of his own land.
Bundy has been saying F OFF to any federal agent that wants him to pay fines etc and has since sparked every local tea party type folk into a rage- they formed an armed citizen militia and have been pouring in to defend this guy.
A couple have been arrested, some tazed.
And the BLM has the nerve to put up a fenced little corral signed with "designated free speech zone"

The deeper threads of this whole thing seem to follow the money better- apparently this land is sitting on top of huge petroleum, mineral and water deposits- coupled with the location right by the i15 turns this plot of creosote bushes in the desert an actual gold mine to any fracking company. This is being hailed as the main underlying reason for the absurd cattle theft.

So that's all the internet has given me.
    Anyone got more recent news?
I don't want anyone to get hurt out there tonight.

I've followed it some. It makes me sick that for at least as long as I can remember (more than a few decades) the subjects of the US of A have watched their rights erode at the hands of elected corupt "civil servants".

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
It won’t be a proper “militia” until it puts a few redcoats (or brownshirts, as the BLM is) on the ground in pools of crimson.

When it gets to that point, I’ll be making a trip south to resupply. The time has come to throw the tea in the harbor. Again.

First I've heard of this. But anytime someone tries to bully or take something from someone else its game on in my eyes.

Is he Native American by any chance?

Now that I read more about it, he doesn't own the land. He says himself it belongs to Nevada. It seems he thinks that the federal government has no right to rule on Nevada land. It seems he feels that since his family line has "worked" that land that he has some claim to it.

I have mixed feelings on it now. If he had a deed and actually owned the land then things might be different.

Apparently his grandfather paid for the land back in the late 1800s so he feels like he has the right to use the land since his dad sold the land to him.

He believes that he has the right to use the land simply because he's Mormon and his ancestors came out there and settled it with Brigham Young. And if this desert tortoise that they're hiding behind were so important, they'd cancel all training at 29 palms, ca.

There's definitely a bigger issue here. 87% of Nevada is federally owned land that should rightfully belong to Nevada. I think you would or will find many Nevadans feel the same way as Mr. Bundy. There's FAR more to this all but for that you're almost better visiting the thread on ar15 general discussion or Reno4x4 maybe.

He is correct in his view that only the local sheriff or a State official has any authority or jurisdiction in this matter, I think that is his main point. I believe he even publicly stated that all that has to happen is the local sheriff ask him to remove those cattle and he will comply immediately. The BLM or Forest service or any other fed agency simply can't force him to do anything, if they are really removing his cattle without his permission they are criminals and should be treated as such. Cattle rustling has been a crime for a long time...

It's federal land. It doesn't matter who gets mad about it. If they're on federal land, then they can be confiscated.

I think this would be a very different scenario in any other county. Sadly he's in Clark, which is Vegas, which may as well not even be Nevada. I am happy to say we have state legislators down there now and even Governor Sandoval has spoken out against the BLM.

Ultimately we need Nevada to be sovereign and we need our 87% transferred to the state. The BLM needs not be in Nevada any longer.

From what I have read and seen on the news -
Apparently the Bundy family feels that the 'juice is worth the squeeze'... That's all that matters to them.
Fees have been paid by the Bundy family for years to the county but they don't want to pay anymore of the federal fees for grazing their cattle on federal land. Seems to me a precedent has been set by the decades of free grazing that was allowed by the state of Nevada and the Bureau of Land Management.
There used to be more families free grazing on this same land but the BLM has forced all of those people to quit by raising the grazing fees to such high levels that all but the Bundy's have gone away.
There is always a money trail ... seems to me that making people stand in an area that is deemed "1st amendment area or free speech area" by the law enforcement on the scene is ridiculous... so is the attack dogs and weapons drawn on unarmed citizens
If you look at what the US government did to its citizens just outside of Waco, TX and Ruby Ridge, ID ... This could turn ugly quick
This has been on the national news so I am praying that the right people show up to diffuse this situation before it gets out of control.
If these were undocumented people illegally occupying the land these same kind of tax payer provided federal employees would be handing them a new phone, a credit card to purchase food, and providing grants, stipends, work skills training and scholarship opportunities

The SHEEP say BAAAH BAAAH !!!

I bet the govmint is going to end up paying Bundy for his cows that have been 'confiscated' ... This is Nevada - not Afghanistan

I bet that they don't. He stopped paying his grazing fees before grazing was illegal and has since then illegally trespassed on federal land on a consistent basis for years.

not that I support BLM's actions, but I've heard Mr. Bundy hasn't been paying grazing fees while all the other ranchers have. Not to go into a debate about grazing fees, but I pay a fee to drive on the road or to drink water than came out of the ground, and I would be fined if I didn't. Mr. Bundy is not paying any fees because he says he's Mormon and he doesn't have to. That's kind of strange. I mean, it sounds like if he had paid the fees that the other ranchers have paid, then there wouldn't be a problem.

The constitutionality of the fees is a separate discussion if that is the case.

That's the official story ... There is always a back story that will come out when the lawsuits are filed.
Sure is a lot of problems for a county with less than 2,000 citizens
