sorry, he doesn't get much sympathy from me. He's on federal land. BLM is within their rights to charge fees to graze public land. He challenged it on some shaky claim of special sovereignty based his family's past use of the land, the courts ruled against him, and he's been in violation of the court order ever since. Seems pretty straightforward. Then you get the outrage industry(tm) cranked up and all hell breaks loose.

Whether it's grazing, mineral extraction, timber harvesting or whatever, you pay royalties and/or fees to the govt for exploiting those public resources. It's been that way for a long, long time. You may feel the laws aren't fair or that the Fed should own less of NV, but that's the way it is. Get the law changed. There's a process to do so.

Dude uses public land without paying fees and gets all butthurt that the man tried to stop him.

There is no free speech issue here - just some freeloading jackass wanting something for nothing.

Pfft. I'll come sit on your front lawn for awhile and then I think I'll just claim it as my own. Then I'll get very mad and armed to the teeth when you or anyone else asked me to.leave. Well, because I just think I have the right to do so.

Does it really matter if its federal or local authorities telling him to go? Not IMO. I know a lot of people hate big government involvement in things, but what's the difference in this instance?

I don't think the barbs were penetrating too far in. He has atleast two shirts on so that helps him. He only convulsed once from what I could tell so he wasn't getting the full voltage.

NO. You have rights. But you don't have the right to break the law repeatedly for decades and get away with it.

    Magical thinking.

It's been long established that you can't yell FIRE! in a crowded theater. Rights have limitations.

I'm not so keen on the whole "Free Speech Zone" nonsense, and haven't since President Bush popularized them and did much of the legwork on their constitutionality. But, then sauce for the goose and all that.

In any event, the guy is a common thief. He's got no more right to the land than the rest of us and in fact has realized more than a million dollars in profit by using that land and denying use to the rest of us.

He shoulda been jailed years ago.

Welcome to the new America. You people just don't get it. A government big enough to give you everything is also big enough to take it all away from you
The federal government was never intended to be what it is today. America is sadly being taken over by big government ....we are only going to see more and more of this as our freedoms are stripped away one law one agency at a time.

There seems to be some confusion about what "federal land" is. Federal land is D.C. as well as the various embassy's around the globe. The land in question in this case is within the State of Nevada. There is no federal land within the State of Nevada, if you believe otherwise you have been tricked...

pick your poison. Over in CA and NV, we have vast amounts of BLM land to off road, hunt, and even graze on. Sure we might pay a fee, but it's there.

Go to Texas if you want land to be yours. You can't walk a few feet without being in someone else's land and get shot. You have to hunt in a booth in your back yard. If you off road on someone else's land, you get prosecuted.

It's your choice whether you stare down the taser of a BLM ranger or the shotgun of a pissed off drunk landowner

By that logic: Nevada and every other state is within the boundaries of the USA which means it is all federal land. Maybe you should do some research.

There is Federal Land in Nevada. All off road races in NV have to obtain permission from BLM to use the land. BLM Rangers are there and they patrol regularly.

BLM is a department within the department of the interior, and they oversee all land that isnt owned privately or by parks and/or forest.

Too bad nobody cares to safe guard the borders from illegals and drug traffickers but will go all out with snipers, helicopters, and surveillance equipment for this small chunk of land in nowhere Nevada where this citizen has supposedly been breaking the law for 20 years and now he is such a huge problem the federalis have to go after him and his family as if they are a national security risk.

I saw the video of the cows eating the grass by a creek on the federal land ... I am truly disgusted by the wanton disregard of the law by these cows ... If you look closely you can see that there are several other animals that are being denied their liberty and freedom by these lawless cows

Now I understand why they need attack dogs and also need snipers with these ...

The quick reaction from the BLM now makes perfect sense ... I can't wait until the Hostage Rescue Team shows up to calm things down further

    OH LOOK - COOKIES :cookiemonster:

Maybe Mr. Occupy Nevada could occupy a job and buy his own land to keep his animals on like the rest of us.

Hey, Israel built a border fence complete with cameras and motion sensors along their border with Egypt:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel–Egypt_barrier

142 miles costing at a budgeted $270M. Considering the US Mexican border is 1,954 miles, a similar project would cost us $3,715.35B.

Let's set up a kickstarter account. I know I love dishing out my hard earned money for the government to build more awesome stuff.
