Probably the only reason why I liked (and did well in) my Thermo class was the professor. My Thermo professor was a 30-something year Shell retiree who could relate concepts and problems to real-world scenarios. He was tough as nails, but fair and presented the material well.

    I'm in chemical sales.

GE. I have a few friends who work for Chevron. By all accounts a good company.

Until a few weeks ago I would have not known this reference.

Sounds like a pretty sweet job Jack. Working for the #8 Fortune 500 company seems like a great place to be

Girlfriend took the TC in because the check engine light was on, it was the damn gas cap. Why does that warrant a check engine light?

It's a company like any other; it has it's ups and downs. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the company though. We're a pretty unique business within GE as we don't follow the traditional GE business / business model, so there are some challenges that have to be dealt with but the compensation package is pretty remarkable. Hell, when it's all said and done I'm receiving full pay for seven months of disability. Very few companies will do that nowadays.

I think I have one or two more episodes of Season 3 left.

Yeah we study GE's business model in my classes because its really good. Thats a great benefit package to get full pay for that long. I know when I worked at Amazon I got nothing and the non temps only got like a month at the most and that was if it was an extreme circumstance.. I'd never work for them again with the way they treat their employees

I'd assume that there is a sensor within the gas tank that monitors the pressure for emission purposes. If it detects an unnatural loss of pressure by the gas cap being loose and allowing gasoline vapor to escape to the atmosphere, it'll trigger the check engine light.

Ugh. That's awful. Temps are usually abused to high heaven wherever you go though. So are contractors. When I worked at the #2 Fortune 500 company, I saw contractors treated like 2nd-class citizens. Kinda tough.

Yes sir, I told my manager who conveniently "forgot" to tell his higher up and when I told them the reason they said it wasn't good enough.

Yup. Sad part is is that I was good friends (or so I thought) with my manager (lets call him "A"). But when I told HR that I had told him that I was going to need to take off early (I worked nights and the vet appt was at like 7 am..) he said I never said such things. You know, his ass is more important than mine so who do they believe. Oh the other great part is, his boss (Lets call him "B") was training someone to replace him (Person "C"). Person C was the equivilant to person B when it came to asking for time off so if C knew I was taking off it was as if B knew. C was standing right next to me when I explained to A that I was going to be taking off and even said, "sorry about your situation, I hope your dog is ok" But again, when B was asked he said he didnt know I was taking off.
