Looks like fun! lol. Do you have a breakdown of the parts used and cost? I want to build an AR but with a kid on the way money is a little tight until I know what I'm getting into, lol. This could be a route I can after I get the conceal carry guns my wife and I are planning on carrying.

The upper was $299 from PSA. Lower is like $150 from the same place, you just need to register as a pistol instead of rifle. Sigtac brace was like $125 shipped from Amazon. BCG and CH is like $100 from PSA. Just gotta wait for their sales.

For anyone looking to build an AR on the cheap PSA is running an Easter sale & a fella could build an AR for less than $500.

I never see the pistol parts cheap on PSA... the short uppers are few and far between. I did just pick up another lower build kit from them, and another upper, PSA premium magpul. and 1000rd of federal ammo. great prices, slow shipping, well worth it though

I noticed that. I looked at parts and realized it could be done for $500. Maybe not the upper you want but you can always mod it later on.

Get the grip off the front, that is an AOW.

He's right, unless your gun is over 26" long, which it doesn't appear to be. You can't put a vertical foregrip on a pistol. It makes it an AOW in the eyes of the BATFE.

There are loopholes though. You can put a bipod on there, or even a Magpul AFG. Not sure why, but the BATFE doesn't consider an AFG to be a VFG, if that makes sense.

As it stands, I'd pull that VFG ASAP if it were me.

i wouldn't try to get into a semantics-battle with BATFE unless you have lots of money and amazingly good legal rep
they are essentially free of oversight (practically) and are very liberal with their nearly-unlimited imprisonment and confiscation powers

take it off, delete the pics, and leave it off just to be safe.....then add an afg and tape a copy of their decision letter on the afg (pertaining to pistols) to the weapon ;)

FYI, the BATFE (and probably Feinstein) thinks that paracord makes a weapon FA and extra assaulty :p

Yeah - some of the BATFE regs are picky & seem arbitrary, but if you get into NFA stuff, or FFLs, you learn to pay attention and follow the letter of the law pretty quick. Feds don't fool around.
