When I let off my break pedal I get an annoying squeak. I can hear it in the cab down by the pedal and outside the truck in the middle of the truck to the rear somewhere. I looked and oiled a couple contact points I assumed were for the break but I doubt I got them all. Can someone tell me the points I need to grease? It's getting mighty annoying. Thanks.

Under the dash, just before the brake assembly meets the firewall, you will see a pivot with a nylon bushing. Most squeaks emanate from that spot. Try a dry spray lube, or some lithium grease.

Thanks Chris. I oiled the spots in the pedal connection under the dash. Got a friend to push the breaks as I lay under the truck.

Traced the squeak to the rear breaks. Seems to be coming from the 3 way brass union just above the rear axle housing on the drivers side.

What the heck back there could be squeaking? Something in the drum perhaps?

AH YES!! I thought you said it was coming from under the dash. Do this, and see if it helps:

Drive slowly backwards, and apply the parking brake about 7 times. Slowly use it to come to a complete stop. That adjusts the brake brake shoes in the rear.

I'm not always too bright haha!

At first it sounded like in the cab for some reason. Maybe the sound was that loud?

I'll definitely do that and report back. Thanks a ton!

Did the reverse/parking break thing to adjust the rears. No luck.

Is there any sort of valve or other part with moving parts that sit on top of the rear axle housing? The sound sure seems like it's coming outside the axle or brakes.

Would a wheel cylinder on the rear drums make a squeaky sound if it wasn't operating properly? The squeak is driving me crazy! I need to find it.

Pull your rear brake drums off and see if the pins that hold the shoes to the backing plate are not broke maybe the shoe is rubbing on the drum although you would think it would squeak when driving just a thought.

Got it fixed. I took the drum off and lubed the wheel cylinder and friction points. No more squeak
