I did discuss it today (with Mid-Atlantic Toyota) and so far I'm not happy!

*Door step protectors, at first she said to rip them off, they later said they would replace them because they are Toyota brand.
    * Vent visors, she said that its my responsibility to get them off of the truck before I turn it in, they were not there when I bought it! I explained that this would ruin them, she said it was not her concern.
*Cap removal and reinstall.. she said "that is on your dealer"
    * I'm sure that she is expecting me to remove my backup camera mod
    * losing temp and compass, she said she can't be responsible if Toyota no longer offers that in a '14, I'll lose it. This pissed me off and I told her that it sure sounded one sided to me. If it wasn't on the truck, get it off, if it was on the truck, sorry, you don't get the same feature, not her problem! I asked if they would install an OEM mirror, she sounded unwilling.

Next step is they find me a truck, and she said that if possible a 2013, it then becomes the responsibility of a 3rd party to acquire the truck and notify me when I need to be at the dealer to transfer everything over.

Over all I thought that the customer service aspect of todays conversation SUCKED! I called my dealer, he said to let him know if I needed him to get involved. I also wanted him to know what they said his responsibility was.

I'm thinking that if I get a "brand new" Tacoma, getting an extended warranty for free would not be an option, and not sure I'm up for spending another grand on one. The woman from North Atlantic Toyota is pretty matter of fact and very inflexible, not a stellar experience so far. Locally, it's all good, corporate, not thrilled at this point. It's too early to rattle the cage since many decisions are not yet made, but the lid can be taken off the jar at any time.

Too early to tell yet, currently no communications as they look for a truck. I sure hope that I get notified or at least get a build sheet before the day I have to pick it up. I'll buy one if I have to, hopefully won't have to .

I have a hard time believing that there is a new 2013 sitting on a lot somewhere at this point...

I agree, but the woman from North Atlantic Toyota, is her most smug of tones, said that they would look for one first. I would be real surprised if they found one in April of 2014.

Could happen, but rare. Sounds like similar BS to what Nissan tried to pull with me on a new Pro4x Xterra.

    Short Synopsis.
At 34 miles I noticed a quarter size rust spot mid door and that the roof rack leaked. Nissan blamed me for creating the rust in the door and would not fix. Roof rack they kept trying to fix but could not find the source. Vehicle had under 200 miles at this point. The door falls under the paint or corrosion warranty so remove the rust and paint it or replace the door and paint it. Nissan agreed to the first option. For the roof they ran it through the car wash a dozen times and could not find the leak. Said the guy was short "height wise" doing the work. I showed up with a water bottle and slowly poured it near the roof rack. Amazingly they could now see the leak. Vehicle goes back into the shop to be fixed. Months pass by with no resolution all the while the vehicle is sitting out back without the roof rack and two dozen holes in the roof collecting dust and rain water through the monsoon season. I finally get a call letting me know it is almost fixed and they want me to trade out loaner cars. Dropping by I see the interior is trashed from the dust and rain. Nissan DTS Engineering is there indicating the side curtain airbags have now been compromised and is no longer safe to drive. This is 4 months into the repair. I'm ready to scrap the truck and Nissan want to hand me back this POS with added damage. Finally I get a hold of a mediator in Nissan Corporate. They are willing to give me a similar Xterra but can not find one locally so I need to pay freight. They local dealer had a Pro4x Frontier which is the same drivetrain and same cost as the Xterra. Nissan agreed and put together paperwork to make it happen. I show up to the dealer and they switch the Pro4x for a 2wd base model and tell me I must take it. I walk away with their loaner car and tell them to call me when they have a real solution. Having everything documented I start sharing on their Facebook page and CC Nissan on all emails going to local media and AG office. In 30days Nissan is willing to buy me out. I price out a Tacoma OR adding taxes and fees and have not looked back.

My advice is to document everything. Take photos, record phone conversations, document in word. This starts building your case when you need to escalate the situation. With the documents created start CCing Toyota and requesting to speak with your contacts supervisor. It will help get added attention at the higher levels they will want it resolved quickly

How can Nissan be so STUPID???

Some of these companies have employees that simply can't find a brain among the lot of them.

How many people will read this (or something similar) and simply say to themselves, "OK...not going to buy a Nissan next time." They lost your business forever and probably several other people's as well.

They could have avoided it by simply making you whole at the start instead of jerking you around for months. Suggest you post the specific dealership as well so folks can avoid them.

I would avoid posting that idea. A lot of the buy backs usually have agreements preventing detailed releases of information.

Have not owned a Nissan since it was called Datsun. It's not just the dealership, a problem such as this would have been brought to the attention of the regional representative. The corporate culture of Nissan influenced the specific dealer's actions..... so that tells me NOT to buy a Nissan.

Todays update: Toyota Mid Atlantic called and said that they were having a 2014 built for me exactly as my 2013, it is being built in May and due to come in in June. I asked about my accessories to which she said "that's not really my concern at this point, let's get the truck here first. For legal reasons we have to order your truck EXACTLY as the 2013, we'll worry about the rest later."

I requested a build sheet, she kinda copped an attitude and said it wasn't necessary for me to see it. She then started spewing out Toyota code numbers and said "everything down to the chrome exhaust tip will be on the truck".

Again not a stellar customer service experience, at least its moving in a forward direction.

You really need to contact the owner and let him know how you are being treated by this woman. If he is not interested just post reviews all over the net.

All I can do is elevate it in the Mid Atlantic office. I found out today that my local Service Manager knows her and describes her as "a tough cookie". I told him that I have different descriptive words. Again... no reason to panic until something goes wrong. Treated poorly, yeh probably, but everything is still on track.

Small thing to the cap and such, but are your vent visors in-channel or outside the channel? If in-channel they're easy to remove and reinstall. Outside will come off, then just replace the double sided tape. I know that can be done b/c the outside ones for my old truck were used.

Do you have a delivery date yet ?

She should at least give an estimate for delivery to the dealership if the truck is on order with your name on it
