I've done a lot of google searches (many which lead here) and used the board search and I can't seem to find an answer to this question.

Is there a noticeable difference in gas mileage from the Regular, to Access, to Double cabs? I assume there has to be due to varying curb weights. Access is the sweet spot for me but I'm still interested in the double cab if the mileage lags by 1-2mpg.

Apologies in advance if this is one of "those repeated forum posts", I'm new to taco world but not to the net or forum etiquette.

    :)

edit with additional details: so as we know, fuelly doesn't separate toyota tacomas by cab but i did find the spec sheet that has the various curb weights. oddly enough couldn't find a manual double long bed, they don't exist?

    Manual Reg: 3710
    Manual Access: 4105
    Auto Double: 4285

You can only get the reg cab in a 4cyl FYI.

Difference between a ac dcsb and dclb is pretty much nill

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Nothing beats the 2WD regular cab, they are the lightest and have the lowest profile, aerodynamics, and smaller tires. But, you will hear this all the time on these boards, don't buy a truck with gas mileage in mind.

I have a small little puddle-jumper car for gas mileage and it gets 30mpg in town, my truck is used for hauling and traveling.

    its cool.

The only real difference would be the 6 speed manual and 5 speed auto on the v6... the auto gets slightly better mpgs due to its taller 5th gear.

I had a 1988 Toyota pickup regular cab (bought new) before I bought my new 2014 Tacoma access cab. The access cab is so much more useful it's amazing, although it's a lot longer overall than I'm used to. What is most surprising is that the mileage of a 26 year newer truck isn't really any better than my old '88, considering both are 4 cylinder manual transmission and the 2014 has a lot more engine electronics that should get better mileage

A little of this and a little of that.
As per the posted spec chart, it's accurate. My 2011 DCSB 4x4 six-speed V6 has never gotten worse than 16 mpg and never gotten better than 19 mpg. It is what it is.

Chart is a little low based on my 09 Prerunner access cab v6 6 speed.

    Summer I see 19/23, winter 18/22.

Weights are a little off. My 08' X-Runner scaled in at 3,780 with half a tank of gas and a few little odds and ends in it.

6 speed manual gets less mpgs. I had a 6 speed access cab and got about 17 mpgs. I now have a DCLB auto and would get about 21 mpgs before I changed tire size. Now I get about 20.

I have a 2014 regular cab 4X4 auto. Installed 265/76-16 tires at 90 miles. Mileage for the 2 tank I have burned is 18.9 and 19.0. I live in the country but it has been short drives. My 2008 GMC crew cab 4X4 gets similar mileage driving it the same way.

Last full tank of fuel (87 oct) averaged 18.88 mpg with about an 80/20 split of highway to local driving, a/c on the entire time. On the highway, speeds were between 70-80 mph with more of it being closer to 80 than 70. For my truck, that's decent. I've gotten better before, somewhere around 19.5 but temps were cooler then. On average though, I'm getting low to mid 17's with a lot more local driving. I've tried keeping the revs below 2K rpm along with other fuel saving measure while driving too. It didn't do much more than make me a target.
