I am a douchebag and needs help with HIDs

i'm not very good with cars so i was wondering if there is a HID tutorial with pics out there somewhere or if someone got someone else to install them, how much did it cost?

 

Just because you can work on your lights and easily mess them up does not make you a douchbag. Now if you work on your buddies Taco and mess it up than it would apply.

I did see a couple of vids on You Tube that walked you through the installation. Try taking a look there and see if it might be something you could tackle. I remember thinking that it didn't look to hard. Good luck with the project whatever you decide.

Also look down at the bottom and read the "Similar Threads" posts. It is like a site search and the threads could have some great info.

 

Do a search on youtube for HID install. Paul (slimcubby) has posted that a couple times already.

 

You can't really screw up the installation...

i got bi... apparently a place here can install for 55 plus tax

 

its easy man for real. the instructions kinda suck but just use common sense take your time and drink a sixer. everything will be fine

 

do i need to be drilling or anything?

 

nope. its all plug and play. just get some 3m double sided tape and you wont have to drill anything

 

oh thats sounds ok.. any other special notes? like do i need to remove battery? or and trimming?

 

anyone have a pic of where they put the ballasts?

also wondering if you keep that grey sheild thing over the bulb.
steps. take out old bulb put new half bulb shield in, clip it in place, put rubber back over then put bulb in and turn it into lock?

once bulb is in. should the wires comming form the bulb be on the bott or the top?

The important thing is to insert the bulb with the shield facing up. That is, the opening of the shield should be facing up. It helps to cut down on the glare to oncoming drivers.

 

What heat shield?

...There's only one way the bulb will go in.

TIP#1 DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB.
TIP#2 DO NOT SMOKE/DRINK WHILE INSTALLING THE KIT
TIP#3 HAVE LOTS OF ZIPTIES, DOUBLESIDED TAPE.

my installation kit took about 30min


1. Unplug the harness
2. Peel off the rubber cover around the bulb
3. wedge out the metal clip that's holding the bulb
4. Get all the hid kit harness that's attached on the bulb through
the rubber cover you just peeled off.
5. insert the bulb into the housing, make sure the plastic tips are
wedged into the right slot, closed the metal clip , attach the rubber
cover.
6.find the place to mount the ballast, double sided tape is ok, but couple zipties better .
7. plug in all the harness, red goes with red, black goes with black.
make sure the harness is plugged in all theway, if it doesn't go in easily, you must be pluging in wrong way. NOTE( THERE SHOULD BE TOTAL OF , 4 HARNESS, TOTAL 4 HARNESS FROM HID BULB, 2 SMALL ROUND THAT PLUGS INTO 2 SMALL HARNESS FROM BALLAST , 1 3 TIP PLUGS INTO STOCK HEADLIGHT HARNESS , 1 2 TIP(GOES INTO THE BALLAST),

8. TURN YOUR HEADLIGHT ON AND TEST OUT THE LIGHTS

9. CLEAN UP ALL THE WIRES WITH ZIPTIES

IF IT DOESN'T WORK, THEN UNPLUG THE CABLE YOU PLUGGED IN FROM BULB TO BALLAST, 2 TIP, AND PLUG IN THE OTHER WAY.
