no..but i also live in Wy...

but in general..pretty much no one knows wtf it is haha

 

If security is your concern, you can visit a hardware store and find unique pattern nuts (think locking lug nuts). Depending on how thick the bolts are, you can also drill a hole in the center of the bolt and attach a lock to the bolt.

However, as others have mentioned, is it really something that someone would recognize as being valuable enough to steal?

 

It is a 5lb tank. Think they call it a #11

True. people already ask me what it is. I just thought with how easy it is to remove ig could happen, plus I want to leave it on all summer at least.

Yep! Your platform was my inspiration. I really like the simplicity of your design and how light it is. Thanks for your help in describing it to me. What did you use as a mattress topper on it?

 

I use Thermarests as a base then I have a 2" memory foam mattress topper that I made a canvas cover for on top, makes for a pretty comfortable nights sleep.

Yeah that's probably the biggest reason why I went with BAMF. I hear a lot of guys on expo portal have issues with bed racks only sitting on the bed sides of the 2nd gens bc of the plastic warping over time with the weight of the rack + RTT on top. I guess only time will tell. But yeah the rack is bad ass. Jerry did an awesome job designing it

 

I have heard of this but have never seen any pictures of it. I feel like it was just some worry wart that started that .

 

It actualyl happens. happened to me with my very first bed rack. i jest never took pictures of it. you either need full length support, or bracing to the frame/bed bolts. my current one goes to the frame, and has been good to go for 2 years now.

 

I had a lumber rack on my 1990 Ranger and it broke the bed over time . What happens is that when you go over bumps the legs of the rack force down on the bed sides , at the front this isn't as much of an issue because the cab end portion of the bed connects to the sides and braces them , at the rear when the weight comes down the sides splay outward with only the tailgate latch to restrain them .

Over time this constant back and forth fatigue broke the bed at the bottom where the bed side met the floor , I see no reason why the same wouldn't hold true for the composite beds
