So I have a cracked leaf spring on my 2003 TRD 2-wheel drive Taco. My friend has replaced them and says we can do it. Where do you guys recommend getting two (one for each side) I'd prefer new rather than junkyard, thank you

Va. Spring and steel did mine. They are in your area. Or could be va. leaf and spring.

I got a pair off of ebay.

Buy new ubolts, cut everything. Don't bother trying to take things apart imo. Unless you're lucky, you'll drive yourself nuts trying and then cut it apart anyway.

You must have one hell of a friend to help you with that! You should probably get him an extravagant gift for something like that…maybe a trip to a tropical island or something. I wish I had a friend like that!

It takes a few 17mm and 19mm wrenches and about 20 minutes per side to swap out leaf springs by myself. Just have a jack, jack stands, and a small ratchet strap to pull the axle back onto the centering pin after you bolt the spring into the shackle and hanger.

Yeah it is the worst fix I ever had to do on my taco. Bolts and bushings up front welded with rust and age. I think it's amazing that someone was able to do with basic hand tools. 4 foot breaker didn't mean sht to my truck!

    +1 here too.

Whole job wasn't more than a few hours, but I bought new front bolts, new U Bolts, and new rear swing shackles.
I used a cut off wheel on every bolt that had to come off with the exception of the shock bolts.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
+1 on replacing both packs. What caused a leaf to break, also affects the remainder. 11 yrs on original leaves isn't too shabby. Time to retire them.
